Someone who can bomb 3's, pass, and get into Penn? Yes, please.

His shot looks better here than in the earlier video...

Can we bring the Dad on as an assistant? We could use him.

Tyler " T.J." Berger - 6'3" PG out of Westtown School (PA) and NJ Shoreshots AAU. Son of a high school coach. Averaged 17ppg while shooting 41% from the 3. Offers from Stony Brook, Columbia, Drexel, Penn, Bryant, Lafayette, NJIT, Yale and Kennesaw State. ionahoops.proboards.com/thread/3226/recruiting-2020?page=3We don't have anyone who can shoot 41%. That said I want Brandon Murray too.

This board baffles me. Everyone clamoring for a shooter, he signs one that played in a elite HS program and its seen as a negative. Dont know crap about the kid, I wouldnt take who recruited him as a big thing, there are always guys like this who get offers late when its thought they were going Ivy and they express the desire to play in a higher competitive conference. The PG thing that's just from you everyone this height has to play this position crowd. Good point. I look at the starting PG at Duquesne for example. Sincere carry. Kid got injured in twice in high school. Committed D2. Senior year he blew up and almost won D1 player of year in Ohio and Duquesne offered super late, kid ended up starting year 1 in A-10 averaging 12-4-4.5 and 2 steals a game. Point being I know nothing about TJ but I see him as a ball moving SG who can shoot. Maybe he was just under the radar and could be a valuable bench shooter

I'll admit that I'm biased(very) towards shooters but I really like what I see in his highlights beyond his deep shooting...

Pat learned last year how it feels to be short on guards...shouldn't happen again next year. TJ looks like a solid grab but won't scare away any 2021 guys we are on. Always need more shooters and at 6'3" he has some size. Someone else had said Blair replacement and I agree entirely.

Ewing is betting on some risky recruits. Lot of these guys are low to not ranked guys and to expect them to have success in the ultra competitive big east is very risky.....

Watching that highlight video and all I kept thinking was this young man is ready to fire from downtown if you give him an inch of space! Good lord, he wasn't playing around in a few of those games. I like the signing...release may be low but it doesn't take long for him to get it off and he used the pump fake and side move to get open more in that highlight video than i've seen any of our guards do in some time. Some clever ball handling and nice assists as well. Welcome aboard!

TJ shot 46% from 3 while distributing 3.5 assists (he can handle and pass as well as shoot) on a state championship team whereon he was the captain...he was committed to Penn until April, and since had offers from Seton Hall and Oregon...I think he can be a key contributor to a winning team moving forward, and he's obviously the caliber of kid we want representing Georgetown, and clearly someone who values academics...also, son of a coach which would likely indicate that he's a heady player who makes good decisions on the court...all of these qualities combine to reduce the "risk" you reference just because he didn't show up on some "guru's" rankings list recently...I agree that we need 2 or 3 major, high impact players in '21, and guys like TJ will make them look better and bring out the best in them...to me, that's all part of building a championship team...

He played at westtown. For those that don’t know that is a nationally ranked high school. He played with frank kepnang a top 20 recruit in the 2021 class, whom we are recruiting as well. Just gotta wonder why this kid is being seen why is he not ranked.... hmmmmmmm

He has also played with Mo Bamba, Cam Reddish, Jalen Gaffney, Brandon Randolph, Jalen Warley, Noah Collier and Dereck Lively. Sometimes good players on teams like these go under the radar because there is just so much firepower around them (think Myron at Spire). I think his major knock is athleticism which is why he's not rated anywhere, but he doesn't have to be crazy athletic to be impactful if he can make his shots. I'm not expecting anything transformative from him, but I am of the opinion that every team needs a guy who you can place somewhere along the perimeter and you can trust to hit the open bucket, and that is what he is at this level.

Berger Kobe Beard Dante Harris
All have potential to have one heck of a chip on their shoulders. You would have to think that infuses into the culture and style of play,

Number 1 thing I love about that package is how his teammates think every open 3 no matter where its shot from is going in. Also the amount coaches and teams screaming "shooter" in all the packages I've seen.

I think our freshman class has a great chance to over perform their rankings and fit together well as they gain experience and develop their skills.
Not that I would mind a 4 or 5 star recruit or two in next year's class!
