Clark discussed his Evansville visit and two schools that he would like to try and set up visits with in Georgetown and TCU. Evansville: "The visit was great, I liked everything there. They really showed me a lot of love." Georgetown: "That's a really good school, I was happy and really excited that they offered. They see me as a versatile guy who can do it all, I want to take a visit out there." TCU: "I've just always liked it in Texas, there's just something about it down there that I can't explain. I just really want to get down there and see what they have going on." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/senior-wing-kobe-clark-s-recruitment-entering-high-major-realm

I hope staff keeps prioritizing him. Clark is a player that the staff should be in a good position with. The Evansville program is having issues, having just suspended/fired their coach and it sounds like the other major competitor right now would be TCU. Clark sounds like he likes the Texas school, but you would hope that Georgetown and coach Ewing might have more appeal. You hear rumors every year of the TCU coach, Jamie Dixon, being mentioned for other jobs and possibly leaving which can not help with recruiting. It would be nice to see the program land another athletic wing player to go along with Sibley soon.

As it stands now, the Hoyas need to add 5 more scholarship players to the program next year, in addition to the two high school players (Harris and Sibley) who have already committed. I can envision them adding one, or possibly two, transfer players who will end up sitting out a year before being eligible. I would think they also want to add one or two grad transfers/juco players that can come in ready to contribute. Unless they can find a high level high school point guard they are confident will be ready to run the team as a freshman I think a grad transfer point guard is the best route. I could also see them adding a grad transfer power forward to help the developing bigs (Tim and Malcolm) that will need to play significant minutes. If they follow a plan similar to what is laid out above (two transfers that sit and two grad guys) then they are really only looking for one other high school player. Hopefully that player is a versatile athletic wing guy that is at least ready to contribute on the defensive end right away. That would give them 11 players (3 of them freshman) who are looking to find some playing time, which is more manageable than having 13 guys trying to find playing time Should be an interesting few months as the roster for next year takes shape. I'd agree that this would be ideal. Trying to assimilate 7 new scholarship players (current 2 commits plus 5 more open scholarships) seems very challenging, so 1-2 guys who are sitting out and contributing in practice but not suiting up until the following year makes good sense. Adding a grad transfer point guard seems like it has to be priority #1, and a grad transfer 4/5 to ease the load on our young centers would be outstanding. Even a grad transfer 2/3 who was a reliable shooter would be great if we could swing it. But, I think you also have to be flexible. If all of the above pans out then yes, we really only need maybe one additional class of 2020 recruit. Unfortunately, the transfer market (including grad transfers) probably won't totally come into focus for another 2-3 months, and many of the top high school prospects may be wrapped up by then. There are a few grad transfers who are already on the market (the ivy league guys) and a handful of traditional transfers who have already announced (like the Mitchells). But most of those announcements won't come until teams' seasons start ending in March and April, and then they'll take visits and maybe make a decision in late April or May. So if we wait for 4 transfers (2 grad, 2 traditional) as you mentioned and we aren't able to land the caliber of guy we'd want, we may be left with some roster gaps. From that angle, I think if we see anyone in the class of 2020 who we think could be an asset to next year's team, we have to go for it. If that means we end up with one less spot for a sit-out transfer, so be it--better that than risking a thin roster again next year. From my perspective most of the high school guys we've been mentioned with recently (other than Alexander-Mocrieffe) seem fine, but not necessarily jaw dropping. Kids like Kobe Clark, Tyler Beard, Jermontae Hill, Lynn Greer--they all seem good and I'd have no issues with any of them being on next year's roster. But to your point, we probably only need one, maybe 2 more 2020 kids and none of those guys really strike me as being good enough to materially move the needle next season. I'm good with recruiting them, but don't think we need to rush into anything under the assumption that we have 5 open scholarships so we should just start throwing offers around capriciously. The coaching carousel and the decommits will start, other kids who are of comparable talent levels will emerge as the season goes on, and of course there's the grad and transfer markets that'll heat up later. No reason to rush to anything in January.

Kobe Clark and Tyler Beard played each other tonight as was mentioned yesterday in a post. Since Ewing was in MN yesterday to see Kerwin Walton, Ewing was probably in town to see this game and offer Beard in person.

QUINCY, Ill. — Kobe Clark parked himself at the end of the bench Friday night. A senior point forward for the Vashon boys basketball team, Clark had a forgettable first half and coach Tony Irons took him off the court to see what he could get from someone else. “I know I get on to him a lot because I have such high expectations for him,” Irons said. “I come down on him pretty hard sometimes. I have nothing but the utmost confidence in him.” Clark showed why as he scored all 12 of his points in the second half, including an and-1 poster dunk, to drive the nail into the coffin and help Vashon beat nationally ranked foe Sacramento Sheldon 67-56 in the finale of the Quincy Shootout at Quincy High. The Wolverines boarded a yellow bus late Friday night to make the trek back home. It was a happy ride in large part because Clark came alive. “Everybody on Vashon knows what Kobe can do. It’s exciting,” senior guard Phil Russell said. “I’m just happy for Kobe.” Clark scored a tough layup to put Vashon ahead 34-33 midway through the third quarter for his first bucket. The Wolverines would not trail the rest of the night. “I have a mode I can get into,” Clark said. After giving Vashon the lead, Clark went on a tear. He hit jumpers. His hands were active on defense. After a turnover, he raced the other way to block what appeared to be an easy transition layup. He was everywhere. “For the most part he’s the glue and he does what we need him to do. Whenever we’re in a lull, he can pick his spots to score,” Irons said. “Whenever we’re in trouble, he knows how to get us what we need to get into, so he does everything for us. When he’s aggressive and letting the game come to him, it makes it that much easier.” www.stltoday.com/sports/high-school/boys-basketball/clark-propels-vashon-s-second-half-surge-in-win-over/article_44870d78-3f33-11ea-a57a-07bbad747e47.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter_STLhssports

Sign me up.

Kobe Clarke looked really skilled to me. Seems to check all the boxes. Clark is a really versatile player. The type of guy every good team needs. Beard reminds me of Jagan. Might be a little smaller, but probably a little better ball handler. Both would be great additions.

I think Beard and Clark would be great acquisitions. I also think both should have higher rankings! Let me also add Dante Harris and Sibley. If GU gets all this talent, their team is going to be very very competitive when you consider McClung , Wahab, Wilson and Tim. That’s counting on a lot of inexperienced college basketball players to turn out the best possible way. We need proven transfers who are immediately available for next season. Yeah. We're currently not even in as good shape as we were two years ago when Pat started. That team was at least working with Jessie, Marcus, and Kaleb up front and two PG guards who'd been on the squad for a year already. Wahab/Pickett/Blair/McClung/Beard is almost certainly a bottom 2 BE starting lineup (most likely dead last). Even substituting a solid FR addition (Moncrieffe?) or a starter-level grad xfer (Mike Smith?), you're probably not moving the needle much. We need a home run combination of top grad xfers, 3/4-star commits who punch above their weight from Day 1, a minor recruiting miracle (top late decommit, waiver eligible transfer, reclassify-ers), and some quick gelling of all those new pieces to even sniff the first division next year. That's to say -- I think "very, very competitive" is going to take a lot more than Kobe Clark or Moncrieffe.

Me personally I'd like to see Clark, Lewis, and maybe Murray or Walton in the Blue N Grey! Who did Kobe Clark run with on the AAU circuit?

Clark reminds me a little of Bey for Nova. Big, strong and athletic, with really impressive range on his shot. He would check a lot of the boxes for what the Hoyas need next year of the staff can get him to commit. My favorite part of that video is that he sprints back on D and is constantly communicating. He looks like a natural leader and tone setter to me. No flexing or over-celebrating; he’s locked in. I think not getting Kobe Clark would be a major miss, he's a solid glue guy from PG to SF. Unfortunately I don't see a lot of activity going on at the moment its possible he's focusing on his team. I've been paying a lot of attention to his recruitment and I think we offer, an available scholarship with playing time, whereas everyone else is either a MM or have no room at the end of the bench. I think he would be a great fit for a scrappy Hoya's team!

A class of Beard, Sibley, Clark, Murray & Harris plus Wilson being an RS frosh would be a nice foundation to build on for the staff...

KOBE CLARK "THE GLUE GUY" Versatile Vashon forward Kobe Clark(6-6 175) has been a key component to Wolverine success over the past two seasons. A rising star who is now drawing interest from Power Five programs is the next selection in the MOsports.com Super 50 rankings. Clark does it all for Vashon, at times he plays point guard, at times he plays center.
