The Ohio Supreme Court on Friday rejected a new congressional map drawn by state Republican lawmakers as unconstitutional and ordered it redrawn, marking a major victory for Democrats in a state where lopsided districts have confounded their efforts to gain seats in the House. Democrats and voting rights groups had sued after Republicans created a map in November in which the party would have been favored to win 12 out of 15 seats, according to the court’s 4-3 opinion. They charged that the new lines defied a constitutional amendment passed by voters in 2018 to ban partisan gerrymandering. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ohio-redistricting/2022/01/14/338009aa-755d-11ec-8b0a-bcfab800c430_story.html

Manchin and Sinema should be ashamed.

Sociopaths, by definition, are incapable of experiencing shame.

Quoting Stalin when talking about voting rights?! It’s really scary.

Shouldn't this constitute some sort of federal crime?

A small victory over the vote suppressing anti-democratic MAGA GOPers. The Supreme Court on Monday refused separate requests from Republicans in North Carolina and Pennsylvania to block new congressional maps approved by courts in those states, meaning the fall elections will be held in districts more favorable to Democrats than the ones created by the GOP-led legislatures. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/07/supreme-court-congressional-maps/

So the trailer home has replaced the log cabin as the Republican mythic abode.

How awesome is this?!!
“So now we’re criminalizing certain acts around the elections process that most folks, particularly in the Black community, have long held as a way to assist those in need.”
Yesss...Success.

Imagine being so ashamed of your own beliefs that you'd knowingly and willingly look to revoke a basic right of citizenship from others so that your shameful belief system can continue to exist and, in your hopes, proliferate. Congrats, "Republicans." You've well exceeded your "deplorable" descriptor. Now, you're traitorous. Well done, traitors. Sadly, time, is not on your side. Your "values" are far older than are you. And, they will, hopefully and finally, die out with you. As was true in the 1860s, you're fighting a losing battle.

If only we could go after the "Republican" voter fraud that actually happens here and there. The party of racism and projection.

"In Harris County, which includes Houston and is the state’s most populous county, areas with large Black populations were 44 percent more likely to have ballots rejected than heavily white areas."
