I'm sure Wade's "I'm turning this program around now and you're the centerpiece" talk was compelling stuff. It was never likely that Tremont would decommit and recommit, so any residual bitterness seems misplaced, even for someone who played the academics card and is now at LSU. We go with the guys we have and support them.

Then why isn't that public? The kid's Dad is putting it out there that this is the difference and all they really know is that we canned the coach they signed with because he missed the tournament two years in a row. Because we are a private university and they are a public university. There is no reason for Georgetown to publish any employee's salary or contract. You mean no reason, other than college basketball recruiting? When we gave JT3 a 6-year extension guess what Georgetown announced? The length of the deal. hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/10299/jt3-signs-6-year-extensionWhat's being used against us in this case? The length of Wade's deal and the unspecified length of PE's deal.

Do you really think that's all it is? That after weeks of deliberation, that's all it came down to? Or that instead, that's the little sound bite he gave. And regardless, I think you're taking that one sound bite and trying to extrapolate a lot more than what is actually there.

Hope that this works out for the young man. From all I have heard he is very talented and a good shooter. Would have been an asset for the Hoyas but given the state of the program it is hard to blame a Top 50 recruit for not wanting to gamble. PE was a great player, by all accounts a good NBA assistant and a willing student of the game. However, until he shows that he can start to turn this program around, the Hoyas are right there where Chris Mullin was at St. Johns a couple of years ago. It is frustrating and very unfortunate, but the chaotic season, the coaching change, the search for a replacement, and the late start in recruiting with what still appears to be an incomplete staff was never going to make for an easy transition. For now it's all about small victories and player development. If PE can coach last year's team up, while adding a couple of relatively unknown but interesting players, it will create some excitement and help win some of these recruiting battles. For now it is still a "show me" world and it is hard to blame any recruit for wanting to wait and see how PE performs on the bench as opposed to playing on the court.

Maybe, his son was promised the starting PG position, and Ewing wouldn't commit to that agreement. Tremont would have been the best player on our roster, regardless of position. Stop making up excuses, this is someone we absolutely needed. Well, obviously he didn't want to join the GU program. I guess he'll be the best player on LSU's squad as well. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) No need to cry over spilled milk.

One part of me says good luck to Waters. The other part says we already had enough Tre's on the team so lets shake the dust from our shoes and move on.

Speculation on my part, but I feel like they decided long ago they didn't want Waters to play for a big man.

This is just brutal. I thought he was a great fit and would realize that Georgetown remained a good option for him. Disappointed, but wish him well. Patrick and (and his almost completed) staff need to catch a break. Brutal? bwahahahahhahahahaha....... did people actually still think we were getting Tremont? lmao

www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1782807-four-star-pg-tremont-waters-signs-lsuThe kid's Dad is flat out saying he's not a one or two-and-done, but someone who needs to develop. I read that to mean three or four years guaranteed in college. If I'm reading this right, one of the reasons Ed Waters is citing is that Wade is signed to a six-year deal - whereas none of the details of Patrick's contract are public, and the only details are that it is a "multiyear deal". Basically if we had conducted a search and hired a coach and released public contract details like any other D1 university we'd be on par here, but since Georgetown acts like an information silo and didn't release any details about Ewing's contract, we look like we're still a head coaching mess waiting to happen. You're reading way too much into this, bro Tremont simply didn't want to come here Once he decomitted, he was gone....It has nothing to do with us. Nothing at all

Now go out get Nazaiah Carter. Then get a solid 2018 PG. We'll be fine. And Waters will still be in Baton Rouge...

I personally think that after Waters decommitted from Georgetown and the departure of JTIII, it was going to be difficult for him to come to practice and deal with JTJr.

I hope his decision will get him to where he wants to go because i know that PE would have been a major factor for him to get to NBA

I had given up on Waters. Now, it seems the longer it takes after LSU visit, the better our chances. I'm ok either way though. Everyone was just waiting for the check to clear.

He committed to us originally. You're basically implicating we run a dirty program. Kid was justified in decomitting, and PE couldn't sell him the way JT3 did. Either move on or look at the reasons why.

Close it up. He plays elsewhere now and we need not care.
