Any idea if there's interest with the current staff in Nowell?
I know he's changed schools and we've changed coaches (did you hear about that?), but it's still obviously a huge position of need.
Even if XJ were to commit, I'd still rather have a 2nd PG than another wing or 4 who thinks he's a 2/3. And if XJ goes elsewhere, well...
I don't see much anywhere about his latest contacts.

I would love to have the staff take a closer look at this young man and recruit him. These films clips make me think he has the goods. This board went crazy over Tremont Waters recruitment. I believe Markquis Nowell could handle the pg job most sufficiently. If we want a point guard, I would make him a priority! He can run the show.

Stats don't always show the truest picture. He does appear to shoot a lot. He can handle the rock and passes, he's got a solid shot, nice arc, and he's quick as greased lightening. Appears very coach able, he's not a ball hawg.

Hoya4ever, What do you think? I like his game a lot. I think he can absolutely play...in the right situation. His success will be dependent on the system/style he plays in. Not having an absolute clear idea of what Ewing's wants/going to do, it's hard to say. It seems as of right now Ewing's putting an emphasis on size, length and skill in this 18 class. I will say this about Nowell, he's the type of player that we see every year that goes off during an opening weekend game in the NCAA tournament leading to an upset win.

I've looked a several clips of film on this guy. He sure is quick, fearless, gets to the hole, has a good jump shot. Looks good to me, and I think he could be an asset at point guard. I saw the negative statistics on an earlier post, and I get it. But I still encourage the staff to keep looking. He was offered early in the summer. Is there any new news aside from the announcement that is transferring. Are we still interested?

He's grown from that scrawny little quickster to a muscular young quickster. With all the length the program is trying to recruit and the one year stay of Trey Dickerson, Markquis would be a nice asset. Show him some love!!
