Great piece in today’s Post on Steve Neumann’s post-MLS career and aspirations. He clearly studied hard at GU and continues to do so in the MBA program. He is also a great friend to Harry and has been since the day they met. Here's the article: www.washingtonpost.com/news/soccer-insider/wp/2018/03/03/they-were-top-mls-draft-picks-but-when-their-soccer-dreams-changed-they-walked-away/Ok, Steve's decision makes plenty of sense to me. BCG is a world-class prestigious gig, and he'll be making way more as a BCG associate than he would as an MLS hanger on. J.J. Koval leaving the game to become a dentist, though... I guess the money is also better. Maybe I'm just biased because I have to go get a filling tomorrow and am holding a generalized grudge against dentistry at the moment. Really, though?

Funny how dentistry figures in some sports. One of the top 800m runners (a BYU grad), who could have gotten a shoe contract and had a good chance of making the Olympics, opted out of running for dental school.

Alex Muyl opens the scoring for the Red Bull tonight. Nice to see him starting and scoring.

Had a chance to catch up with JT Marcinkowski last weekend when the Quakes were in to play the Union. He is training and traveling with the MLS first team and starting a lot of games for the Reno USL club.
As always, he was great with Harry who gave him one of his soccer cards autographed.
The young men who come through Coach Wiese’s program are all first rate guys.

JT starting and very sharp thus far in MLS Homegrown game against Tigres of Mexico. 0-0 after 41 minutes and he had two fantastic saves.
Will likely come out at half at which point Harry and I can turn off Univision.

Lots of Hoyas on the pitch in MLS last night. Keegan has two beautiful assists as the Union beat Minnesota. Rosenberry puton a master class performance from right back, with a skill level that reminds us he entered GU as a midfielder before moving to right back on the 2012 NCAA finalists. .
In San Jose, Alex Muyl opened the scoring for Red Bull. Unfortunately, he did so against JT.
Good to see our boys featuring so prominently.

Poor JT - I was at the game last night, and even if he had stood on his head, there was no way he could come out ahead. His backs and midfielders just couldn’t maintain any possession or pace, so he was under constant pressure.

Watching the Red Buls last night, it is impressive to see Muyl’s work rate and tenacity on the field. He plays with a nice edge to his game.

Union decline option on Josh Yaro. Hopefully he gets a chance to play somewhere and has a run of good health. Between injuries and the incompetence in Philadelphia, he has never had a fair shake.
Union did pick up Keegan’s option.

Keegan traded to Colorado just a month after Josh was waived. Seriously considering cancelling my Union tickets.
Harry is outraged.

Donald Grant had forced the trade of Tom Seaver to Cincinnati. Still haven't really recovered from that move.

I am still not over that one either, nor their leaving him unprotected in 1984 and having to watch him win his 300th in that awful White Sox uniform. Harry will get over this but his two Hoya buddies have been sent packing in a month so it may take a bit. On The positive side, a box containing a Big East Socce champs hat signed by the whole team arrived yesterday courtesy of Coach Wiese which took some of the sting out of the Keegan news.

That miscalculation by GM Frank Cashen, in leaving Seaver unprotected, was one of the few mistakes he made in his tenure. The Chisox have had a number of horrible unis over the years (remember Bill Veeck's blue-shorted set in the 70s?). Anyway, back to soccer.
