Rochester's Democrat & Chronicle did a wonderful story about Isaiah here. Rochester's ABC affiliate did another great story here and did a shorter story here. As you read/watch you may experience feelings of optimism choice facts: -grounded personality -attends Rochester's only Jesuit school -is of Jamaican descent and wears 33 because his favorite player is Patrick Ewing -actually met Ewing courtesy of Rochester's best orthopedic surgeon Mike Maloney, who was also a Georgetown hoops walk-on - TOTAL BASKETBALL GENIUS-fourteen years old I would be really happy if we got Isaiah. He seems like a great kid.

I live in the Rochester area so I've heard about this kid for a few months now. Unfortunately, I have not gotten the chance to see him play, although I plan to next year. My best friend is actually a Syracuse beat writer (don't kill me) and has seen him play a few times now and has had the opportunity to talk to him multiple times as well. I've grown up here and have played against his school many times as well as coached against them, so I am very familiar with them. Here are a few tidbits from my friend and some general observations about the basketball climate in the Rochester area from me:
-Every time my friend has talked to him he can't get over how humble a kid he is. Very down-to-earth and has an understanding and a desire to get better -He's also been very impressed with his game and while obviously raw has a great upside and frame to work with. -My friend is under the impression that we will be a major player here. As noted above, Patrick Ewing is Isaiah's idol and PEJr. was the one on our staff who reached out to him. Supposedly PEJr. came to watch him play once this year, although I'm not positive about that. -My friend gets the impression that he could end up at a prep school, which may hinder our efforts here -The competition level in this area is not very strong at all. As you can see in the clips he's the biggest kid on the floor by a mile and there is very little D1 talent, especially high major talent that comes from this area -However, McQuaid is a great school and would project very well to Georgetown. This is a school which sends students to Ivy League schools on a consistent basis. And Isaiah seems very dedicated in the classroom, so maybe that will keep him around.
All in all so much can happen here since it's so early but I just wanted to give a little insight into this kid. Seems like a really good one on and off the court

Based on the clips available and posted by YaBoy and articles on Stewart, his feel for the game, Bball IQ, aggressiveness and physical coordination are very mature for a 6'7" 6'8" 14 year old. Very mobile and knows who and what he is as a big man. He also got a nice frame that will develop nicely as he continues to put on more muscle. Nice catch in the post, kick out to the perimeter and repost with better position. You rarely see that recognition and action from a college freshman much less a high school freshman. I hope the staff tracks this kid and gets heavily involved.

Magoo will be gone by the time this young man steps on the court. Given the relative disaster of the Hopkins stint last season, Syracuse may lose some clout on the recruiting trail.

At 6-foot-8, 230 pounds Isaiah Stewart has a powerful build for a rising sophomore, a great motor and runs the floor relentlessly and tirelessly. He was unquestionably the best big man we saw all day. Stewart has soft hands, catches the ball cleanly and is a good passer from the high post. He also has plenty of length, Stewart told us that his wingspan was measured at 7-foot-3. We were told that he has a good face up game out to 15-feet but that wasn't on display Friday afternoon, instead Stewart put his hard hat on and went to work in the lane. If Stewart gets to establish offensive position on the block, he will score, go to the free throw line, or both.
Stewart listed offers from Wake Forest, Tennessee, George Washington and Saint Louis with interest coming from Syracuse, Georgetown, Stanford, Virginia, Ohio State, Notre Dame among many others.

One of Rivals' top performers from the second July live period: Recruiting: Wake Forest, Tennessee, St. Louis and George Washington have already offered. Performance: In Orlando at the AAU Super Showcase, the 2019 big man was one of the breakout performers. He impressed with his size, strength, touch and overall skill level. He's a potential big-timer in the strong rising sophomore class. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/all-rivals-team-top-players-from-the-final-live-period

He's been cleared for contact recently, 1st game back will be Feb 1st.. BTW this kid is going to be really good. One of the nicest kids off the court, but pit bull mean on it...

I sat next to Isaiah last night during the game. Can confirm the verbal offer to him. Nice young man. Too bad we didn't show him more in terms of performance or atmosphere.. .
