Turnovers aside, one of his best games of the year last night.

Turnovers aside, one of his best games of the year last night. Obviously, DSR and Tre had big games, but I thought LJ's toughness was the difference last night. Great to see.

Gotta agree. LJ was really good last night. While he can be frustrating sometimes when he plays out of control and forces some bad shots, he is really the only option to aggressively attach the basket off the dribble or on the offensive glass. He played with great energy and made solid decisions last night. When LJ plays like he did last night he is really tough for other teams to handle.
Now lets get Isaac to play the same way and then this team becomes the team everyone had hoped for at the start of the season.

That late second half play where he snuck in on the baseline, stole the rebound and fired it to the open shooter out on top for the score was a thing of beauty.

He and DSR both deserve credit for their defense last night. On multiple occasions they got into the passing lanes on the perimeter and almost had steals (good number were knocked out of bounds). Even without the outright steal and turnover, it disrupted Xavier's offense.

Tons of "extra" effort last night from Peak. He brings it like that from a motor standpoint on a daily basis he will be playing in the league. 10 rebounds and about 10 tips to other teammates who controlled the boards.. Huge

Glad he had a great game last night. I was worried when he got a foul called on him literally within the first 5 seconds he was in the game. Woke him up and he played with a ton of effort without too many fouls.
Seemed like JT3 went to the zone the majority of the time LJ was in the game to keep him out of foul trouble and it worked. On that note though, there was one time with Copeland up top and LJ on the wing of the 2-3...very interesting switchup for a possession here and there.
Great hustle, congrats on the double-double

Play has really ticked up since BE play started. Who had LJ Peak as the teams leading 3 pt shooter at 39% after 2-3rds of the season is over? Pretty shocking considering he started the season 0 for.... FT% up to 75% also, still think he has another couple levels he can go obviously but staying on the floor so he can make a consistent contribution has been very helpful to our cause...
Going to have to be huge on Saturday for us to pull that one out

Agree 100% YaBoy. His ability to stay on the court seems to be the only challenge he struggles with but love what he brings every night.
Props to refs for correctly not blowing the whistle @ 1:07 left in the game when LJ deftly stole the ball from (Hegner?) in front of Creighton's bench which led to DSR being fouled on a drive, by Watson (his 4th), and DSR cutting their lead to 3.

LJ has really played well lately and his intensity is what the entire team needs. No doubt he needs to find a way to foul less and stay available, but he plays so hard and is the one player who is always looking to be aggressive on the offensive end.

I was critical of LJ earlier in the season, but he has clearly picked up his game. He is the one player on this team that will consistently go to the basket with the purpose of scoring. His 3pt shooting has kind of been a revelation, I never expected him to be at 40%, ever.
I wish we could keep him on the floor for more minutes, but at least the minutes he plays, he is going all out. If he could just cut down on that one unnecessary foul per game, we would be in business.
My prediction, if LJ maintains his current 46/40/76 shooting split, we will be a NCAA team.

Plus he went to the hoop at least once yesterday, got hammered, but there was no foul called. Tough break and more awful officiating.

His 3pt shooting has kind of been a revelation, I never expected him to be at 40%, ever. This is a running theme around here and I know his frosh numbers from 3 were not the best. But, if you want to see LJ's ability to hit the 3, look in his recruiting thread for a video where he is practicing 3s. If it's not Photoshop, he is pretty good, just needs to do the same in games.

While everything else is pretty bleak the last few games, this kid never quit in any of these games while at the same time showing improvement in a lot of areas.
Not only does he seem better able to actually score when he gets the basket, his shooting from deep is greatly improved. Early on this season, I had him in my Aaron Bowen "Please don't shoot the 3 ever" category, and now he's probably surpassed the Patrick Ewing Jr "Fire away if you're wide open by 10 ft" zone of shooting ability. In addition, he's definitely put in the work practicing his FTs as well. He's also been able to play more than 20 minutes every game recently, but we need him to cut down the fouling enough to get closer to the 30 minute mark going forward.

Peak is hitting 3s at 36% this year, up from 24% last year. Pretty big improvement. ksf, you are right about his need to cut down the fouls. Coming off the bench has helped, but there is still a ways to go. He has been bringing energy too, and is a bright spot in a disappointing Hoya season.

Scored 22pts in 22min tonight.. 41-49 minutes the last 2.
15.4 ppg over last 5... 57% from the field ..81% from FT.. 46% from 3 and that includes a 0-4 game......
Fouls are the only thing stopping LJ Peak right now..

LJ needs to play loose and most of his points the last two games came in the 2nd half when we scrapped the offense and just played ball in an effort to come back. He's been getting off to slow starts when he comes off the bench ....mostly because he is trying to score within our sets. Not easy. Kid just needs to green light to do his own thing....he's that kinda talent.

He's been getting off to slow starts when he comes off the bench ....mostly because he is trying to score within our sets. Not easy. Kid just needs to green light to do his own thing....he's that kinda talent. I think this group of players all seem to excel when we scrap the offense. It feels like DSR and Hayes are the only 2 players who have a good grasp and now how to score consistently in this offense, probably because they have been in it the longest. I agree though LJ has been playing like we hoped he would when he committed. The kid is talented when the pace is being pushed. I think this team doesn't have the group IQ to accomplish what JT3 expects in his traditional offense. The offense can be base, but I feel like this team is going to have to play a mucked up style of pressing and trapping continuously and pushing tempo. As a group, they are struggling mightily in running traditional JT3 offense and can't seem to guard anyone in front of them on defense. Butler scored 87 points tonight and had only 8 assist. That means for the most part Butler just scored on their man off the bounce or on offensive rebounds and putbacks. I was rewatching the game and I have lost count on how many possessions by Butler we had multiple players in just awful help side defensive positions. It was everybody at different points of the game. The crossover reverse layup by Dunham on Derrickson was only made possible because the Hoyas had 3 players (Copeland, Hayes and DSR) in awful defensive help side position leading to a terrible rotation which allowed Dunham to even get a layup. Sorry, didn't mean to jack the LJ thread. He has been the only reason we haven't lost each of the last 4 games by 20 or more points.

Let me say the thing that no one wants to hear but may be heard a lot more in another month or two. Does LJ stay around for another year? In my mind he is being totally wasted on this team. Put him on a run and gun team and he would score 30 points a night and boost his NBA prospects.
