After a few months of solid progress, I haven’t seen anyone working on the construction site in the last few days. Not sure if something happened, or if they’re waiting for concrete to cure, if the 90+ heat is an issue...
I know that infrastructure/plumbing work is often what takes the longest (and is largely invisible), but I’m starting to wonder about the probability of a September completion at this point.

Looks like Spring 2020 is the new target for completion.

Looks like Spring 2020 is the new target for completion. And why is this not being communicated?

Dunno. On the upside, it looks like work is starting up again in earnest this morning, with a new crane being assembled on site.

Anyone near campus able to capture progress in last 2 weeks? I’m not sure the Manhattan Project protected secrets better than McDonough keeps a lid on a major capital project that is still officially meant to host football games within 6 weeks.

That section is slightly more filled in (though not with actual floors and benches) but they haven’t expanded the vertical footprint much in the last two weeks.

Construction missed its deadline. Tickets are available on the temporary east side all season. November 2018: August 2019:

Progress is gradual, but over the last few days, they've been filling in the steel for the pressbox.
Disappointing that they blew through the original timeframe (one of many), but by the time of the home opener, fans will be able to see the future configuration coming together.
I'm also curious as to whether the delay on the construction is part of why the team is playing Catholic this year, and not another Ivy. It sounds like it was tough to schedule some opponents before, given the seating limits, and was probably even tougher with the temporary setup.

Catholic was a late fill-in for Howard, which dropped Georgetown for a game with Hampton at Soldier Field. Howard really doesn't like playing Georgetown and with a new coach (and a guarantee from the city of Chicago), they were quick to drop the game. Sgarlata had no Ivy options because Ivy League schedules don't start until September 21 and those schedules are booked years in advance. Brown is the only Ivy League school publicly committed to Georgetown after 2021. Last minute planning notwithstanding, it speaks to Georgetown's inability to attract better opponents. I'm not sure if Cooper Field changes that.

I guess I am somewhat mystified as to why either Howard or Harvard - who meet at Harvard Stadium on October 5 - see each other as a more attractive opponent than Georgetown. Unless Howard is bring its band up to Cambridge, that is.

Not that I need to explain this to you, but Howard still has a lot of cache and name recognition in the black community, particularly around the age of today's recruits' parents. I think that might be a nice selling point to AA recruits for Harvard. If you're going to crush a non-Ivy at Harvard stadium, they probably get more out of it being Howard than Georgetown.

Obviously 'The Real HU' still has a lot of cachet in the black community... which is why it looks a lot worse for the most PWI of all PWIs to annihilate the flagship HBCU, just as surely as if Scrooge McDuck had dropped 10 tens of gold coin on top of them. Do you think any black recruits, or their parents, feel any more love toward UMCP for embarrassing Howard today? For paying them all of $350,000 (by comparison, my hometown South Alabama Jags got $1.2M to battle Nebraska right til the end) like a buncha rented mules (and you know that some much uglier metaphors are close to mind)?

I think Harvard and Maryland have very different goals for their football programs, and I think playing Howard checks a box that Harvard likes to check. Also, re: recruits, Maryland has no shortage of black recruits, but Harvard's classes tend to look pretty different.

Also, re: recruits, Maryland has no shortage of black recruits, but Harvard's classes tend to look pretty different. I don't know that the differences in the racial makeup of their respective rosters is a function of Harvard having a harder time attracting black recruits... if anything, I think it's a lot easier to sell Harvard - Harvard! - than Maryland, which not too long ago murdered... ok, sorry, negligently homicided - a black player. Because, as you say, Maryland has very different goals for its program than does Harvard. In any case, while I can talk myself into a 'Battle of the HUs' being a good idea for the Crimson, especially if they use it as an opportunity to play up Howard's reputation as a distinguished American institution in its own right... putting a whoopin' on them for money takes a lot of the sheen off of that. But then, they are much more likely to call of their dogs and not run up the score like Maryland did.

Time to pass Howard and let them collect their guarantee checks. And how's this for a hot sports opinion--is it time to pass on Harvard and the disinterested Ivies? UPDATE: From the halftime talk on Stadium: Cooper Field II will open in the spring.

Seems like a relatively low-effort thing that they should've been doing more or all along, but I guess better late than never:
