I expect Trey to be a contributor this season, and a big factor his last 2 years. Gotta love a kid who works his butt off to make his own name.

Also remember those videos Trey was in with that dude from handlelife? If he's putting on size/gaining ball handling skills theres no reason to suggest he wont be a star in the next couple years. That's the thing most firmly planted in my mind. I think it was obvious from those videos the caliber of player he can potentially be one day.

I could not be happier. Seems like such a wonderful kid. He deserves a solid year. Wish he had 1 more year.

So great for Trey. And his dad happened to be in the building. Alonzo is very clearly exceedingly proud of the type of person Trey has become. He emphasized a few times how hard Trey works and one could tell how much that means to Trey's dad. The Mourning family makes Georgetown University look good. Here's to hoping that this is only the first of Trey's awards for his game.

Would be interesting to see his dad Alonzo as the next general manager of Washington Wizards....a very random thought!

Would be interesting to see his dad Alonzo as the next general manager of Washington Wizards....a very random thought! Ernie Grunfeld appears to be General Manager for Life. For whatever reason, Leonsis hangs on to him no matter the result. But it would be interesting to see if Trey Mourning wants to try coaching.

I hope he spoils us again tonight and produces a double-double with one made three.

Not entirely sure where this article fits because it spans a lot of topics... but this thread seems appropriate. It definitely reinforces the fact that while Trey has faced a rocky basketball road recently he's still an easy young man to root for. A Mighty Tree Grows in Georgetown. It Belongs to Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning. by Harvey Araton, The New York Times "Trey Mourning had one foot out the door at Georgetown when Uncle Patrick became Coach Ewing. He turned around and went to a team meeting.
Ewing-Mourning roots run deep at Georgetown. But they also intersect at a crucial moment in the N.B.A.’s evolution on the court and are thicker, even, than the figurative blood that was spilled in one of the most ferocious rivalries in league history."www.nytimes.com/2019/01/03/sports/patrick-ewing-alonzo-mourning-georgetown.html

I would think that after missing 5 or 6 games, he'd be ready to go by now...hopefully very soon...

The longer he is out the more concerning the severity of the concussion. Agree with the need for Mourning on the court as LeBlanc, Govan and Carter are not enough bigs to handle the tempo that Ewing wants to run.

I am not a doc, and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I do know concussions are very tricky and unpredictable. The symptoms can last for quite some time. Last spring, Clint Frazier injured his head in spring training and was out several months. Then he re-injured it and missed the entire year.
Better to be safe than sorry in these situations. I remember watching the game and seeing Trey get clobbered. He had fallen and an opposing player accidentally stepped on Trey's head smashing it into the court. A hard hit for sure.
It would be great to have him back to give us minutes from our only other big. But this kind of injury could affect the rest of his life. Hope he gets better soon.

And what’s crazy if this would have been football he would have only been back the next game. Good job of holding him out till he’s absolutely ready
