Tryout Episode 1 of our new mini-series. October 12, 2015 Earlier this month, SLAM spent some time at the legendary St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, NJ, to learn about the process of getting ready for HS basketball season—from the perspective of both players and Head Coach Bob Hurley. Here’s Episode 1, which features footage of the squad readying itself for what’s to come. Check back tomorrow for Episode 2! When does the signing period start? Can't wait to get Mr. Mosely in the family.

Like most of you, I've been an admirer of Coach Hurley for a long time. He has dedicated his life to improving the lot of countless young men via the avenue of HS Basketball. He teaches values, hardwork, commitment and team concept to help these kids develop confidence and to learn how to make a place for themselves in the world. Sure, lots of his kids have had success at the D1 level and some even in the NBA. But all had the opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves and learn so much along the way - in the classroom, on the court, and in life. Coach Hurley passed up countless opportunities to work on a bigger stage and to make vastly more $$ than he does at St. Anthony's. Kudos to him. The series of videos from SLAM tell a great story about his program. Jagan comes off really well too. I believe moving from Coach Hurley to Coach Thompson will be a natural progression for him and will benefit both the player and the Hoyas. Too bad we haven't had more kids from St. A over the years - but I think we are getting a good one this time. Welcome to the hilltop Mr. Mosely!

I absolutely love Jagan Mosely and happy he is going to be a Hoya. From his mindset, to his work ethic, the way he carries himself, and leadership skills. I really believe he is going to be a great Hoya on and off the court. I was already sold on him when he came on his unofficial visit but his comments on this SLAM video where he states "I'm going to change my number this year at St. Anthony to #0 as a daily reminder that I haven't won the TOC since I've been playing Varsity at St. Anthony's" made me want to cheer for this kid even more. He will be the next great Hoya PG! Congrats Jagan on becoming a Hoya and good luck during your senior season chasing the state and TOC titles.

Also love that his mom told him that one day the ball will stop bouncing. Seems like she's reading from the same book as Pops.

Elite wingspan. Jagan's arms are just as long as VJ King's and VJ King is 5 inches taller.

Having just gotten off the plane from his visit to Georgetown ....Jagan played in a tournament and led his team to a hard fought 51-49 win. Jagan hit a big 3 at the end and led everyone with 18 points. Up next, Temple Gibbs.

Jagan hit a big 3 at the end and led everyone with 18 points. Up next, Temple Gibbs. B.B.A. Hoops KO's J.Y.O., St. Anthony's H.S. of New Jersey, playing under the name B.B.A. Hoops here in iS8, was the top seed in the playoffs for the Fall/Tip-Off Classic, and while they didn't play like the #1 seed in this one, struggling for most of the night from deep, they got big shots when they needed them from both Jagan Mosely '16 and Shyquan Gibbs '16, Mosely kept St. Anthony's alive when everyone else for the Friars was struggling and he had a game high 22 points, with Gibbs adding 15 points, and Cole knocking down 3 threes and finishing with 12 points as well in the win. ________________________ Unfortunately Shooting Stars ( Temple Gibbs Nicholas Richards Jordan Tucker Taurean Thompson and Sid Wilson) lost in the quarters so we won't see the matchup B&G referenced above next Sunday...

YaBoy any idea who they lost to? Mount Vernon HS or "Ben Gordon All-Stars". A team mostly filled with Sophs and Juniors... Huge upset. Most of the teamz sanz Shooting stars are just HS teams playing under an AAU moniker. Jagan really played Cardoza HS (Ray Salnave) even though it's called "JYO" or something

Most of the teamz sanz Shooting stars are just HS teams playing under an AAU moniker. Jagan really played Cardoza HS (Ray Salnave) even though it's called "JYO" or something Mount Vernon has a rich basketball tradition. I don't know of any up and coming prospects there right now. Sounds like a huge upset. Thanks for the info YaBoy! I know we got a steal in Jagan compared to his current rankings. He is primed to have a monster senior year on a loaded team.
