I just felt that I need to prove myself more,” Beatty said. “Since I opened things up this month, things have picked up even more so it was a good decision.” Since reopening his recruitment seven schools have jumped into the picture for him. “The new schools that have started recruiting me are South Carolina, Michigan State, Michigan, Syracuse, New Mexico, Texas and Texas Tech,” he told MADE Hoops. He has gone on one official visit so far and it was to Georgetown. “I went on an official visit to Georgetown two weeks ago,” he said. “I really liked the campus, they have a great vibe over there. Georgetown has a lot of history and they have a family like atmosphere.” Beatty has set two official visits for the next couple of weeks. “I have two official visits planned going forward,” said Beatty. “I have set an official visit to South Carolina next weekend and Indiana the weekend after that.” After taking a step back from the recruiting process for a moment, he will stay open minded this around. “I’m just going to keep my list open this time instead of cutting it down,” he said. “I feel like that is telling schools that you aren’t interested in their program and that isn’t something that I’m interested in doing.” Beatty is going to make a decision when he feels the time is right instead of setting a desired commitment date. “My decision will come whenever I feel most comfortable with a school,” Beatty said. “I’m not sure when it will be. It could be next week or next month, but I am going to trust my instincts and decide when I know I’ve found my school.” www.madehoops.com/news_article/show/712396?referrer_id=1272156

Did Beatty and Moultrie commit to LaSalle? Moultrie to LaSalle; Beatty looking more and more like a Hoosier

Yeah that last one was LaSalle (had to look it up). Not a surprising list since he had already announced he would be taking official visits to Georgetown, UConn, Maryland, and Indiana. Rooting for Morsell to Maryland, Scruggs to Indiana or UCONN, and Langford to UCONN. Morsell committed to Maryland. Seems like both Hoyas and Terps landed guys higher on their boards than Beatty. Now it will be Morsell’s turn to recruit other players to join him and Fernando in College Park, and his first mission is an obvious one. Morsell is currently teammates at MSJ with Terps top 2018 target Jalen “Sticks” Smith--a 6-foot-9, four-star power forward.
Last time Morsell and TSR spoke, after he took in Maryland Madness, he had this to say about Smith.
“That's my guy,” Morsell said. “We just love competing and we know each other's strengths and weaknesses. We often joke around about colleges but nothing too serious.”maryland.rivals.com/news/morsell-commits-to-marylandIn a scenario in which Brown were to commit elsewhere, I wonder if the staff would re-engage Beatty.

I suspect we would sit tight until spring, unless a big target comes into play.

He's still listing G'town.. Two possible reasons he's doing this. A. Since Brown went elsewhere the staff is interested again and want to land another guard to bolster the backcourt for this class B. Georgetown isn't a serious option for him and he's just listing us out of respect/ to show that he has options at several high majors Either way not sure what I think about Beatty anymore. He seems solid in the right system but I wonder if he would also hurt our recruitment of Boyd, who is a priority to further develop our DC pipeline.

I see Boyd as a "player" I dont think he is a "only play" the 2 type. He would get minutes if he came here over anyone and III has proven that seniority gets you nowhere.

Rivals has it as UCONN in the final 4, not Georgetown...could just be a mistake by Bossi: Expected to announce at six o'clock Eastern time, Beatty is down to Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland and South Carolina. He's a high scoring combo guard who plays with physicality and really likes to get his points at the rim and from the mid range. Leading up to his decision, South Carolina has been getting the most talk and the Gamecocks appear to be in good position. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/starting-five-4-star-pg-shai-alexander-to-kentucky

Agreed. I think he was off our radar after Waters, but hope he has a great career in the SEC.

His numbers were terrible at South Carolina. We need some wing depth, but not sure if he has much to offer.

We got enough guards. Need a big.. What did you say? we have got enough what? When was the last time you heard that. The way things have been going for us with the guard spot, I think we should go after one or two more for insurance.
