What a coincidence. Christophe Varidel (FGCU) is on Sam Basket.

I have to say, Paul White looks pretty good running the point. I seem to have heard that somewhere before....

Hoyas win 76-73, coming from behind with the last 4 points of the game at the line and overcoming 19 turnovers and 31 points from Varidel.

Needless reference to southern state-school football team? I'm having Hifi flashbacks over here. Tell me, Bama: How are you connected to the Internet right now? (e.g., Wifi? Ethernet? Dial-up? Cup-and-string?) I'm not sure that I am as dumb as you seem to think I am. I watch the same games you do, unless I suppose you are either in Italy or a member of the coaching staff. And I offer occasional analysis to the extent that I think I can contribute something. The football reference was merely to underscore that we are a long way from our first game. And, I suppose, it also shows that I can follow multiple sports, even, gasp, a "state school." Bamahoya..I enjoyed the Nick Saban reference, as my dad played Football at Bama! Let me know when they figure out who the qb will be.

I have to say, Paul White looks pretty good running the point. I seem to have heard that somewhere before.... I like that for a tall guy he really has a nice, low dribble. He's also a very good passer and has a good basketball IQ. I think he's good to spell others at PG for stints, but if he's playing extended minutes at PG I'd worry about his defense against small, quick guards. I know we're not playing against VCU caliber press/athleticism today, but Kaleb looks comfortable with the ball in his hands too...

This makes me think it would be very good if one of our exhibition games could be against a pressing team as I suspect this team will have many ways to punish the press unlike past teams!

Look at the high release point on that shot. Open all day.

Sounds like this game was a coming out party for Kaleb! Love JTIII's quote that Kaleb was, "more than comfortable in the backcourt". To have him say that about a 6'6 player is promising. And apparently his intensity and defense changed the course of the game. Really looking forward to seeing this kid play.

There was an old poster on here who sprinkled his worthless basketball analysis with even more worthless references to Florida football. For many reasons, he was a running joke around these parts. I don't actually think you're following in his footsteps.

Looks like this team is a work in progress in a lot of respects, but the young players just seem to keep impressing. Appreciate all the updates for those of us who can't see the action live. Wish I didn't have to wait several more months to see how we look on this side of the Atlantic!

Those months will be put to good use applying some polish to the raw material that is clearly already there.
