Menzies' hiring is dependent upon approval from the UNLV board of regents, who took 11 days to confirm Beard. They are supposed to meet on Friday, and considering the lateness of this hire, who probably confirm him in a timely manner.

From what I've read, there is a good amount of dissatisfaction with the time delays engendered by the Board of Regents' approval process. I guess Menzies isn't going anywhere. . . .

Thanks, NVH. Interesting read. Sounds like the UNLV Board of Regents likes to give its own imprimatur on these issues, irrespective of its duty. That may be a reflection of its trust, or lack of same, in the athletic director.
I also find it interesting that Menzies's contract calls for a lower initial salary payment than was committed for Beard, seeing as Menzies has far more head coaching experience than Beard (nine years to one) at similar level mid-major conferences.

Looks like the last remaining open D-1 head coaching job, at Delaware, may not be filled before the end of the month: hoopdirt.com/delaware-dirt-2/Prediction: Martin Inglesby. After all, Mike Brey left Delaware to take the Notre Dame job; it's only right that the pipeline goes in the other direction to send Inglesby, an assistant coach at ND, to Newark.
