Overhead cam is a lot better view. Looks like it was going to hit the rim when SMU guy interfered. You can't bend the rules just to accommodate SMU guy. Even on the overhead shot it looked like it was gonna maybe catch the front rim, at least to my eyes. I'm not saying it was the wrong call, just a heartbreaker, he jumps half a second later he's likely trying to rebound the miss.

I think the announcers said sprained knee. yeah they said that later but that could mean anything. Watching the video of the injury it looked like a hamstring sprain/tear. The severity of it would dictate how effective he would be. At the very least it's not a complete tear. Per the butlerhoops.com board, Jones has tweeted that he's fine and will be ready to play on Saturday against Notre Dame.

Fortunately for Jones hes not a player that relies on high athleticism. He barely jumps on his layups and his release allows him to get off shots anyways.

Somebody with higher level reffing experience (which is to say anything higher than volunteer) than myself can clarify, but The fact that you think the ball may graze the rim is irrelevant. We can agree to disagree on that, I think it was an airball. Even if it grazes the rim the possibility is zero that that ball enters the basket in flight.

Wonder if any Big East referees were working the SMU/UCLA game. . . .

I didn't see the game and first saw the still shot and thought "goaltending, easy."
But then I saw the replay. I had no idea that shot was coming from an angle at all. In action I don't know if it's going to hit the rim. Certainly if it's 50/50 as an official you probably shouldn't err on the side of rewarding the shooter for possibly getting it close enough to the edge of the rim that it might be goaltending.

Can anyone imagine the absolute meltdown this board would have if we lost on a goaltending call on a 3 pointer? I would probably personally lose my mind
