Another wildly inconsistently called game in the BE tonight. Infuriating to watch. How the hell did we lose to Xavier twice? The Johnnies play well at home but that game is for the taking for our Hoyas. Make them play half court. It's painful. Dom Pointer has come a long way but go at him early and often. Without him on the floor, they're toast.

Ugh, it's still frustrating to see teams beat Kansas. We should have won that game. They are ridiculously overrated. They get all the love of #1 schedule, but they lose to some pretty average teams. Sounds more like us

Had SJU lost however, followed by another loss to us, then they could have easily fallen out of the top 50 which would have made our record against the top 50 look worse and thus hurt our seeding in the ncaa's. That the way I look at it at least.

Good win for SJU and the Big East. I want the conference to have the maximum amount of teams in the NCAAs so we can get a few to the second weekend. Xavier was in a better position to make the NCAAs so SJU winning is a good thing. It also makes our game more fun at MSG this weekend.

I have to say, though, I wouldnt want to be in Xavier's position. Now they are not looking so good. They have 11 losses and they play Nova this weekend and then at Creighton for their senior day/last game. Losing twice to SJU probably means they are going to be the 6 seed, which makes for a pretty tough game against us, Butler or Providence in the first round of the tourney. If they dont win any of those games, do you guys think they make the tourney? Id say no.

I think Xavier is pretty much a lock to make the tourney unless they drop 3 in a row. And even then, they'd be right around 45 in the RPI, with 5 top 50 wins. That's going to be better than most other bubble teams, especially in the 68 team era. If they lose out, they'll either be in a play-in game or in the first four out category.

Of course Xavier is mostly in such good shape by virtue of sweeping the Hoyas, so you're welcome, Banners on the Parkway.

Huge win for SJU. They just need one more win (Marquette?), they will get to .500 in conference and with a strong RPI be in line for an NCAA bid.
If Xavier can get one more win (Creighton?), they will also get to 9 conference wins and with a strong RPI be in line for an NCAA bid.
That was big for the conference overall last night. Great outcome if you are rooting for 6 NCAA bids for the Big East.

Xavier should be in good shape. That win at Cincinnati was important for them. I would not understand the logic of Cincinnati getting into the tournament, but Xavier not getting in.

Hopefully, in the near future, St. John's will become a destination program for talented kids that does a bit more of selling itself on it's rep. That said, I loathed Harrison and haven't minded seeing him lose. That's less true this year but, watching him over the past few years, I can only imagine how infuriating some Johnnies fans find him.
