DVR a hoyas game! I've gotten burned doing this before and thought I learned my lesson. So today I got smart and added 15 minutes to the tape time.
So I'm watching JS sink two huge free throws, then the subs come in, then Marquette inbounds the ball and of course the worst possible guy gets the ball!! Come on deny that guy the ball. Anyways, the shot goes up, ball is at its apex and.... Times up dvr time elapsed. You couldn't make it up!!??!!
Apparently he made the shot and his toe was on the line?!? Apparently we blitzed them in OT.
Last question. Any word on our Injuries??

Honestly I'm not sure if his toe was on the line or not. It was incredibly close and Fox had just the one replay angle for some reason. When Josh went to the line I told my wife that he was going to make both but we were going to lose on a 3 by Carlino...I was wrong but just by a millimeter!
OT was back and forth until Tre hit a huge three in the corner with the clock running down with less then a minute to go. From there we made free throws so the final score looked good, but it was very much in doubt until about 40 seconds left.

Added 15 mins as well... And it cut off while the refs were watching the replay of the 2.
Luckily, the game replayed on MASN2.

Yeah, I didn't get to watch either. Would it kill fox sports go to have replays on demand? Come on. It's not like they stream tons of content.

Was driving from VT and asked my father in law to set it up. "did you select add a half hour option?" "Yup, you're all set." So I come in the door just before 5 and realize it is not taping. Have to get my wife to start the DSR again, which is not her thing. Missed from about 330 in the second to about 1 min in OT. Lesson: when leaving for vacation, remember there are two games each week - Taping the move game was not enough ...

I always record for 3 hours...SP speed. I know that sounds nuts but I simply won't take any chances. Give yourself an hour cushion off the expected end time and you'll be good.

I do the same on my DVR. Better to record too much than too little. I'm always worried there will be a crazy 3 or 4 OT game.

I'm not nearly as critical of FS1 as I was last season because of all the scheduled 30 minute cushions between games, something I was begging them to do last year. Those cushions have guaranteed that we get to see Hoya games in their entirety when there is another game ahead of theirs. When there is no such cushion, such as the time we played DePaul, we tend to lose minutes of the broadcast.

Yeah, learned my lesson from the Kevin Braswell-UVA NIT game during the Esh years. Haven't been caught by surprise since.

I was really thinking of going 3 but with limited DVR space figured it couldn't possibly go to double overtime. Towards the end of regulation started to realize, to my horror that there was only 10 minutes left on the recording. Then at 1:50 left in overtime (up 1 with the ball) DVR recording shut off. Scrambled to find the replay at 8 pm on MASN while avoiding any of the tickers on the sports channels and the internet. Then had to wait for another 2 hours until the overtime to find out what happened fearing that we missed the shot and that Carlino hits the game winning shot at time expired. ** I used to think that 2 and a half hours is enough to cover up to one overtime but the way the refs are slowing down the games this year you need at least 3 hours to be safe to cover up to 1 over time.

Usually the replays are on Fox Sports One later at night or after midnight but with the UFC stuff they moved them over to MASN. MASN replayed the game at 8 pm. Looks like MASN is replaying the game at 6 AM on sunday and FCS Atlantic is replaying it at 4 AM and 4 PM sunday. FCS Pacific is showing it at 4 AM on Monday morning.

They couldn't provide an answer as to Jabril elbowing that DePaul dude for the same reason. Only one angle.

I figured them be ok at least within two weeks happy it's much sooner. I will certainly now add an hour to all dvr games!!! I just could not believe it stopped as the shot was in air!! Ha.

Unless your DVR is almost full (which is another issue), what's the downside to setting for an extra hour?

I had never had a problem with half an hour before (usually b/c I just get started watching late and get caught up before the end). Glad that this thread happened so I could be enlightened. You've done a valuable service Rich, and probably saved a lot of misery. If you want to call yourself a hero, well, I certainly won't object.
