He wants to stay close to home, which is a wash until you factor in mom wants him here. Then you look at the roster situations for both schools and see the playing time and ability to make an immediate impact here vs. sitting behind 2 potential NBA wings at UMCP plus another top 40 wing committed for next season - it's a no brainer! He'd start for us and be a Top 2 guy on our squad the minute he's ready. Rule #1: Neva eva eva eva...eva eva...eva eva try and make sense out of recruiting. Everything you said is correct, that's why he'll probably sign with George Washington or American...

Broadus can sell the promise of sellout crowds every night, a legit Top 10-15 contender and a deep run in the NCAA's. Ewing has none of those. Players want stats but they also want to win, and that's not where this Georgetown team is situated right now.

All that said, guys pick programs that are down or rebuilding all the time. We are still going to whiff many more times than we actually land somebody, but eventually if our recruiters are good, we should get some players.

Sounds like you are doing their selling for them...what you fail to point out is that he'd likely be coming off the bench, likely in a more limited role...and what most of these kids want is PLAYING TIME, and we offer that clearly over MD...and who's to say we can't win with him...furthermore, there are other major issues, such as possible emotional ties/trust/ desire to play for a specific individual or institution and/or people representing it...clearly, those factors will have to be present for us to be successful. I wouldn't give MD more credit than they deserve...two years ago they were supposed to be top 5 preseason and didn't get past the sweet 16...same scenario last year, so let's don't canonize them before the fact. Fact is, they should have a good team, but they have other players ahead of JP and have already recruited a top 40-50 SF for next year.

Who was the last recruit we beat them out for? Austin Freeman? Actually it was Greg Whittington. We are due. Hoping for some good news to come our way.

What if Turgeon plays small & puts Jackson at the 4? Who on the Maryland roster is a lock to be better than Pickett at the 3 spot? Like every other Hoya fan, I hope he chooses Gtown but I don't get the PT angle that keeps getting brought up..

Jackson is a 3 who likes to play out on the perimeter (good 3 pt shooter)...same with the the white kid (who's name I don't recall) who played very well for them as a frosh last year...both about 6'7 also, they have a pretty good PF coming in (Fernando ?) this year, top 50-75... and as I mentioned they have another top 40-50 SF coming in next year ('18), along with Jalen ('sticks") Smith who may even get some time as a 4/3 early on because he's very thin...

From the looks of the numbers Jackson had to have played a lot of 4 last year.. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/maryland/2017.htmlThe top minutes went to Trimble, Cowan, Huerter & Jackson, who's the best 4 in that group? Again, I hope you're right s4..

Jackson projects as a 3 at the NBA level but is a stretch 4 all day, every day in college. He shot very well from beyond the arc last year, and he'll want to continue to showcase himself as a 3 for NBA scouts - too much overlap with JP!

Really good players do not see themselves sitting behind anyone on MD's team...JP believes he is better than Jackson, Heurter and whomever is coming next year..... JP has already committed to a team that was average to bad with Ole Miss. He probably has gotten a chance to run with our players and can see the pros and cons of the squad. I don't think GTown is that bad if a few of our "ifs" go our way.....

At this point the biggest issue I see them having is the ability to consistently score. Adding this guy helps that problem a lot and allows some other players to more comfortably fit into roles on the team that they are more equipped to succeed at. I don't see JP as a savior for the team, but just another piece that helps the team play more consistently.

Jackson and Huerter played significant/impactful minutes last year on the wings, and I don't think they plan to play fewer as sophs...forgot to mention Nickens who will be a senior and another 6'7 wing who will likely get 12-15 mns/gm. (got 10-11 last year)...regardless of how they try to "list" them, there's not alot of time available for JP (maybe 12-15 mns/gm)...he represents depth to MD., whereas to us he represents a likely impact starter (25-28 mns/gm)...although they had a pretty good team last year, they aren't the powerhouse they might have us believe, as they lost 7 of their last 11 games.

Huerter is a beast BTW. I really like that kids game and his block of Jagan sealed that game for them last year. Maybe they are selling Pickett on the available minutes his second year because that is the likely scenario if Jackson & Huerter go pro and I don't think that is a stretch.

It has to be somewhat a good sign that Pickett has not committed immediately after the MD visit if he was supposedly such a lock....right? Maybe there is a chance, or why else wait?

Possibly...but I thought it was made clear that he and his family wanted to stay local...might just want to take his time, and speaking of time, I hope that in addition to all the other values Georgetown offers, PLAYING TIME is at the top...the sooner you get major court time, the quicker the opportunity to get to the League...

Any delay has to be good for us if he was considered a Maryland lock.

Right...chances might be low, but to still be in the game here is a win at this point. It would seem that he has to decide soon. Very interesting.

Apparently Kansas wants in. Speaks to his talent level! I still say we offer him the best of everything he wants -local, check. Stories program, check. Playing time, check.
Maryland/Kansas offer a better chance to win this year but does he want to sit on the bench and watch his teammates win? Or does he want to be on the floor helping them win?
