It would have been nice to have Jiggy and Jesse hosting this kid....Dickerson and Malikowski? These kids have been part of the family for 2mins. Kinda of like having your niece's new boyfriend give a speech at the family reunion... That niece's new boyfriend must have given one helluva speech!đ

I chatted with Greg the other day and told him I liked the strategy of having him and Trey - the kids that committed to Coach Ewing - be the ones who hosted JP, but that was with a little be of 20/20 vision. That being said, I know Akoy was used to host guys like Pryor and Mulmore last season. He told me he was something like 11/11 on hosting kids who ended up committing, but then Jaren Jackson broke that streak. I'm sure that number he said included guys at Louisville, but the kids he hosted at Georgetown were kids that made it to campus before he ever played a minute for us (slightly different in that he'd been part of the program for a season+)

I think they are actually '18's.

I think they are actually '18's. Are they? Ron has them listed as 17. I'll move my question over to the '18 thread.

Paul White's AAU program, where Coach Hardy has a lot of well-developed relationships: Loaded Meanstreets 17U team There is certainly a collection of bonafide high-level talent on the Meanstreets 17U team, starting with a vaunted perimeter attack featuring Evanstonâs Nojel Eastern, Simeonâs Evan Gilyard and vagabond Alonzo Verge, the talented former Willowbrook star who is back in Illinois after a short stint at a Florida prep school. Meanstreets, who also has Youngâs Lucas Williamson and Kenwoodâs Manny Patterson, will be gaining the services of a star this spring ââ Brian Bowen. The versatile 6-6 wing, who played this past year at La Lumiere in Indiana, is among the top 25 prospects in the country. suntimeshighschoolsports.com/2016/04/08/henricksen-swish-n-dish-tips-club-scene-thoughts-takeaways-event/A guy put me on to Verge on another Hoya sight put me on to Verge last year, said he was the best PG in Chicago. The transferring has hurt his stock but supposedly he's a beast. All 3 kids can make an argument for best PG in Chicago for 2017. Da'Monte Williams (Ill signee) is really good but more of a 2. The Gilyard kid can really play and is a realistic option for the Hoyas at this point don't think the other guys are but never know. Hope they take a serious look at Gilyard now in case they miss on other targets.. Another Chicago kid they would be smart to get on Right Now would be Demarius Jacobs.. CG, Offers are weak but upside upside upside.. He will be playing at a HM next year once coaches see him. Video is from Last summer, just a ridiculous athlete with a condors wingspan. Supposedly skills have really improved. Him and Giyard are the only junior on 1st or 2nd team all city in Chicago.. Definitely a kid to keep tabs on and he doesn't look to be in a rush so definitely should monitor... TBH A lot ok kids on his AAU team (YnR) are under-recruited. Definitely some hidden gems on that squad Junior College star Alonzo Verge verbally committed to Arizona State on Tuesday, he told 247Sports. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/JUCO-standout-Alonzo-Verge-commits-to-Arizona-State-122809983

Exactly right!! Xavier has already scored a bounty in 2017 & they're still getting after it.. Butler just landed a play making kid who's considered underrated, plus they had a recent visit from Alex Barcello & made Bede's final 5.. Now there are reports Moultrie has them in his final list also.. They may not get them but they appear to be working hard for kids who are realistic targets imo, not long shots.. Barcello committed to Arizona. Fran Fraschilla compares him to Steve Nash.

"Starting at forward for your Georgetown Hoyas... a 6'5 senior from Orlando, Florida... Chaundee BROWN!!!" I always wonder if coaches from other teams are aware of these kids transferring before it becomes official and if there is some back channel recruiting going on early. If that does happen, and if I had to guess I would think it does happen, then is there a chance that maybe the Hoyas staff is waiting on some players they know are going to transfer and are hoping to land those players?

Could be. I don't know how much is known across schools, but the staff is definitely two steps ahead of all the chatter here. By the time this board begins whining (or less frequently, celebrating) about something in the recruiting world, our staff has already moved on (in the case of a miss) or put in hours of often un-documented work (in the case of a commit). See B. Murray - I doubt they're as clueless as we are about his interest/decision. With Brown... who knows? He seems like a perfect addition in that SF role. If he hasn't already, he'll be getting a call very soon from coach.

I agree with staff being 2 steps head of the chatter. I know it didn't end well, but I remember that at this time last year, the consensus on the board was that any chance of signing Myron Gardner had passed us by

You would have to be very naive to think that back channel investigation of transfer opportunities through these kids former AAU connections don't go on all the time.
