Jordan will be a big loss for the Red Storm. Only six players average over 10 minutes per game for St. John's. . .he was one of the six, averaging 29.0 minutes. Jordan was second on the team in scoring (14.0), assists 2.9) and steals (2.1). No idea how they'll make up the shortfall.

An already thin St. John's team gets thinner. Felix Balamou, a 6-04 guard who was expected to get some of Jordan's minutes, will miss this afternoon's game against Butler with a sprained ankle.

How long until Lavin is toast? And, if that happens, who do they interview for the job? One of my closest friends is a Johnnies fan and the poor dude is just beaten down. Then again, he's a Dolphins and Islanders fan as well. You can never criticize him of being a frontrunner or a fair-weather fan I guess...

How long until Lavin is toast? Lavin's contract is up in 15-16. Down to a seven man rotation, here's his 2014-15 starting lineup: Pointer - Senior Obekpa - Junior, but there is chatter on the SJU boards he may look to go pro early Branch - Senior Greene - Senior Harrison - Senior The 2015-16 lineup is anyone's guess. With six seniors, the Redmen have one recruit signed to date.

Interesting in the sense that, with only one signee for next year and Lavin's rep as a better recruiter than coach, does that, albeit in the worst possible way, assure his job for this season? I assume the probability is low that they just fire him and eat the money, no?

Don't lump us in with the Johnnies. We have the best hockey player in New York! Also, hope Rysheed gets back on the court soon. Way too much talent there.

Only lamenting my friend's history of torture. I'm a casual Isles fan as well. I sort of had to be. My uncle used to work at the Coliseum and, as a kid, I was lucky enough to get autographs from guys like Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier in the tunnel as a result. If the NY Post is correct, I wouldn't expect him back.

Nothing like listening to the radio at 2 am on an Easter Sunday when Patty LaFontaine finally put the Caps down in that epic playoff. I still try not to cringe when I look up at Dale Hunter's jersey during the National Anthem at the VC. #goon.
If Post is correct, damn. Reading bewteen the lines, unclear you can even put it on Lavin.

Casual Hoya has reposted a tweet by Jason King of Bleacher Report, which states that Jordan and Steve Lavin have met, and that Jordan expects to play on Tuesday against Villanova. Unconfirmed, and nothing to that extent appears on johnnyjungle.com, the SJU board.
They are speculating on the SJU board, however, about potential replacements for Lavin, after the two losses and the Jordan leave of absence (which they think is really a suspension): Danny Hurley (Rhode Island), Bobby Hurley (Buffalo), Jim Larranaga (Miami), Steve Masiello (Manhattan) and Mike Rice (former Rutgers). Of that group, I'd think Bobby Hurley is the most likely. Maybe they go for an experienced assistant coach. . .like Gene Keady?

More gleanings from the SJU board, johnnyjungle.com.
It seems as though the players are running things at St. John's. Jordan has apparently taken advantage of numerous unexcused absences from the team to return to his home in Philadelphia. He is now planning on taking the train directly from Philly to Madison Square Garden for the game, and he is expected to start the game for the Johnnies. The main speculation is now that Lavin is letting him get away with ignoring team rules, with the acquiescence of the seniors (who view this as their only shot at the NCAAs), so as to try to pin down that contract extension; the board believes that Lavin thought they could beat Butler without Jordan, and that he is now concerned that the season is spiraling out of control. They also speculate that he will play in the games until the start of the spring semester, and then leave St. John's. The theory is that each additional win that they get will be crucial in getting an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
Tragi-comedy at its best (or worst, depending upon your view). Hard to believe that the program at St. John's is now dependent upon the wiles of Rysheed Jordan.

So the report that there was a death in his family isn't verifiable?

Jordan's grandmother apparently did pass away. However, he has also apparently missed practices without permission beforehand.
