247sports.com/Player/Blake-Harris-761986'3 5 star point guard. Do we seriously not have a thread on this kid already or did I miss it? He visited for Midnight Madness and absolutely loved the school. He's a stud and would be the best point guard we have had under JT3. Is transferring from the Carlisle School to Montverde and just reclassified from 2017 to 2016. Supreme talent, great kid and great family. He gets it too. He should be priority number 1 for us.

Well that was smooth. I said how he has reclassified but then put '17 in the thread title. Can somebody fix that? Also, Blue&Gray any idea if the staff is on him hard? They need to be.

Andrew Slater @aslater247 7m7 minutes ago 6'3" pg Blake Harris, @jerrymeyer247 's #41 junior, said he's looking to commit very soon. Virginia Tech HC Buzz Williams watched him today.
Haven't read anything about him and the Hoyas lately. Guess this isn't good news for us.

Staff seemed to drop the ball on this kid. Not sure why.

paranoia_hoya: @nationwidenolan @guhoyafan BLAKE HARRIS WHY HAVENT WE OFFERED @blizzy_blake5: paranoia_hoya @nationwidenolan @guhoyafan idk So - in the exchange above, a couple of Hoya fans are wondering why we haven't offered Harris yet - in the second tweet Harris himself replies - unprompted - saying he doesn't know why he has no offer. The kid is looking at tweets from Hoya fans and publicly commenting on his lack of offer. By all accounts I've read this kid would be a great pickup and seems like he is at least interested enough in GU to reply to a few fans. Just seems strange that a kid we liked enough to invite to Midnight Madness is getting no love from our staff. Something seems off.

There has to be more to this story. Not like they don't know who he is... grades?

Pet peeve -- why is it that when WE DON’T KNOW what’s happening with the recruiting of a prospective student athlete, we jump to conclusions like the staff dropped the ball?
Seems to me that any number of factors are in play at any given time when it comes to recruiting. And I seriously doubt any of us are close or insightful enough to truly know what the staff’s considerations, priorities and plans are.
I've been checking out this board since last century, so it's been clear to me over time who has actually had some clue about Hoya recruiting, but even they admit to not having definitive knowledge.
Reading recruiting sites or relying on social media is not the bottom line either.
I tend to take the position that I don't, and likely won't, know exactly what's happening recruiting-wise with GU basketball. But I refuse to assume the negative.
Could you help this old man see the light?

Blake's a good prospect but he wasn't gonna jump ahead of kids like Fultz or Murray or Cowan(oh well) right away.. Maybe it's my paranoia but I don't think transferring to Monteverde helped either..

Harris’ parents both attended North Carolina, with his father Rolando, playing football as a Tar Heel and continuing his career in the NFL for the Packers and the Ravens. Harris says that the family connection to UNC will play a part in his decision. “That was the team I grew up watching,” Harris said. “It’ll probably impact (the decision). I’m not saying I’m only going to stay in state. But I don’t want to go far.” zagsblog.com/articles/blake-harris-taking-over-at-carlisle/Don't always assume it's the staff that "dropped the ball". Many factors go into choosing a school for recruits.

Folks want to see offers & activity by the staff when it comes to recruiting, especially when it comes to positions of need(PG in this case).. If they don't see it, they speculate on the why's & why nots , no big deal imo..

Could you help this old man see the light? Well if a 5 star player has interest in us, i don't think it hurts to offer a scholarship at the least. we have not had a 5 star player since Greg Monroe, which is 8 years ago. Not that stars next to their names are everything, but if someone is proven player with a great upside and consensus top player among the recruiting experts, i think there should be more efforts from us, especially if he states he is interested in us. Maybe im just saying this based on Melo Trimble, who also had an interest in us but was never even offered. Sure, there are a lot of things that we do not hear here, but there are also a lot of things that are not addressed.

Hey, don't let a FACT like that surface! Point remains, crying about who we haven't offered yet or aren't recruiting heavily enough is waste of energy. I've never been a college recruiter. On that front, for better or worse, I trust the staff. They have far greater knowledge and insight than me. No, they're not perfect, but on balance I believe they do a very good job.

4 schools in 3 seasons might have something to do with it, also the move to Montverde makes him harder to recruit. Due to re-classing his stock has dropped a bit as he’s not currently listed in the Espn top 60 for 2016
3 has a good relationship with the Carlisle Coach so also might be some things behind the scene also...

I appreciate your comments. While they may not be the bottom line regarding what's actually going on with his recruitment, they sound plausible. Thanks a bunch!
