Let's go Hoyas. A great early test. It will be instructive to see how the freshmen react to a game away from Verizon, against a top team in a tournament setting.

Agreed, but I don't know if I would say "top team." Still extremely early, of course, but they're 2-1 (front page at Hoya Saxa mistakenly says 1-2), lost to Miami this past week (though Miami is now a fairly impressive 4-0 and is facing Charlotte in the championship of the Charleston Classic tonight), and needed OT to defeat Louisiana-Monroe. They're currently ranked 8th, so it'll be interesting to see where they drop in the rankings. It all means that Florida seems vulnerable so far and ripe for the picking. Go Hoyas. It'll be really interesting to see how we fare with a big step up in competition. FYI, we will play either #3 Wisconsin or UAB in the next round on Thanksgiving. Here's the bracket: Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament Bracket.

Eli Carter and Smith-Finney are both "questionable" for Florida with injuries. Two of their better players.

FWIW, UAB is rather weak this year. We really need 2 wins out of this tournament and it would be far more impressive beating Florida and/or Wisconsin/Oklahoma, then it would be beating UAB and some combination of Butler/UCLA/Oklahoma. I am assuming UNC gets to the finals and that we don't beat them.

I agree blueandgray. In my mind the UAB win would almost be worthless. We really need to beat Florida on Wednesday to set up a likely game against Wisconsin on Thanksgiving. That game would have tons of upside and virtually no downside.

Why assume the Hoyas do not beat Carolina? I think that is a decent match up for the Hoyas. Would love to see Josh Smith OWN Kennedy the Meek.

ESPN just listed the notable teams in the tourney - Wisconsin, Florida, UCLA and UNC. Let's remind them about the Hoyas.

I'm not familiar with that third team you listed, FF. Didn't they used to have a good team back in the sixties and seventies?

The 4 best teams in the tournament according to the rankings are those listed. It's not like we are ranked and got overlooked by an unranked team. You're talking about 3 top 25 teams and one team just outside the ranking.

UCLA isn't ranked though Oklahoma is and they weren't listed. Winning fixes everything. Our future is up to us. If the Hoyas win, even ESPN can't ignore them whether or not they'd like to. Not to mention LJ should be good for at least one top ten play this year. And you know Bowen's going to get in there too.

I realize of course that our performance last year makes us a big question mark right now. I wasn't at all surprised by the list - just noting that we can force everyone to notice us with a strong performance.

Love the team and what the coach is doing with them so far. But to date they have only held serve against teams they were supposed to beat. A strong showing would be great but this team is young and inconsistent. They have not played a truly strong opponent yet. Want them to win all 3 but would not be surprised by any outcome. Remember we have won November before and it does no good if you are not playing well in March.

blood in the water with Florida. Got to beat them. The next game against Wisconsin would be a great measuring stick and it would be played on ESPN vs. AXS TV whatever that is. It would be good for the country to see us at this point.
