The difference was our BEPOY candidate played average to bad. I still remember that 3 he took with around 1 min left rimmed out. I believe that shot would have given us the lead and probably the win.

I think we're still ranked (AP). We had almost 300 more votes than #26 Colorado State (which lost to Boise State 82-78 and plays Fresno State today). #27 Arkansas beat Tennessee 69-64 and lost to Florida 57-56. #28 Ohio State won its only game, against Maryland 80-56. #29 Southern Methodist beat South Florida 63-52, and plays Central Florida today. #30 Providence beat DePaul 83-72, and lost to St. John's 75-66.
Maybe we drop a spot, but that's all.

Thirteen of the AP Top 25 lost this past week: #2 Virginia, #4 Duke, #8 Notre Dame, #11 Utah, #12 Wichita State, #13 North Carolina, #14 Virginia Commonwealth, #16 Maryland, #19 Texas, #20 Baylor, #21 Georgetown, #22 Indiana, and #23 Miami (twice).
Unsubstantiated prediction: Villanova moves up to #6 (ahead of Duke), Butler moves up to #21, and we slip to #22. Miami drops out, and is replaced by Ohio State at #25.

How can a prediction be unsubstantiated? Either you are referring to the act of predicting itself, in which case it's appearance on this talk board substantiates it, or all predictions are unsubstantiated because they cannot be proved because they have not yet occurred. In the latter case, only a prior prediction can be substantiated.

I almost followed that line of logic. But, after all, subjectivity is objective.

I was going to change the word "unsubstantiated" to "ill-founded," until I pulled up a list of synonyms for "ill-founded:" ill-founded baseless, empty, groundless, idle, unjustified, unproven, unreliable, unsubstantiated, unsupported I guess my ill-founded prediction can also be an unsubstantiated prediction as well.

I'm surprised this is the first time I've ever seen the definition of "ill-founded" on HoyaTalk. Seems like something we should keep handy for future reference.

So you are saying that ill-founded would also have been a poor choice of words?

Are you saying that my proposed use of ill-founded is ill-founded?

Duke went on the road and beat the undefeated #2. Don't know that Nova is climbing over them.

I would be relieved if we land at #22. I see us slipping to 24 or 25. These polls have been unforgiving when it comes to Georgetown. Can't say I blame them.

The Hoyas haven't done themselves any favors by getting smoked twice by Xavier. That performance was worthy of dropping out of the rankings completely. I don't think it'll happen but it wouldn't be undeserved if it did.

Ohio State should get a big bounce and be higher than #25. I think we'll hang in there at #24 or #25.

I think Hoyas will stay in the top 25. Seth Davis released his top 25 and we actually went up a spot on his ballot from last week. I think enough teams around us lost that we're safe for this week. Have to beat Providence this week to stay in next week.

Beating the snot out of Creighton should help.
No. 25 in CBS Top 25 (and One).
