Yes, that's what I am saying. That pic was from back in--I think--May or June. Now, he did seem to have lost some weight. But if he has lost even more weight than that he should be a lean mean machine. Well, you know what I mean.

Yes, it's the 2014 version of HoyaStalk. The only surprise is the thread did not start sooner.

Maybe it's old-fashioned, but I like to judge the changing of seasons via more traditional means: groundhogs and Hoyatalk posters obsessing over how much a player weighs. Gonna be four more weeks of summer, I reckon.

His last 4 games for GU after the December cupcakes were: Mins. FGs FTs Rbs As Bks St PF TO Pts @#18 KANSAS L 86-64 19 2-4 .500 1-2 .500 0 1 0 1 5 2 5
vsFIU W 92-57 17 4-6 .667 0-0 .000 2 0 2 0 3 1 8 vsDEPAUL W 61-54 14 2-3 .667 1-3 .333 1 1 0 1 2 3 5 vsST. JOHN'S W 77-60 23 1-6 .167 3-7 .429 6 0 0 4 2 0 5
He has a lot of ground to make up in points, rbs, defense (blocks) and FTs. Hope he's ready to compete at the higest level.
My prediction: 13 ppg; 65% FT; 6 Rbs

My prediction: 13 ppg; 65% FT; 6 Rbs This is basically the stat line that Jeff and Roy had their final years. Not saying Josh is that level of talent, just pointing it out. Of course Roy and Jeff would have played more minutes and done other things on the court (both things josh can do/improve on).

I don't recall Josh being "very dominant" at any point last year.

I clearly remember him in our first game against Oregon, he had 20+ pts. I believe he fouled out, but had he stayed on the court the outcome of the game may have been different. So at least dominant on one end of the floor.

Will it be Oregon Josh, St. John's Josh or February Josh? Here's hoping Josh is a multimillionaire by next July (because he had a great season)!!!

Imo Oregon won because Josh’s defense was horrible. His guy Moser went off also. Oregon had no answers for Josh when he was on O though

One difference this year is that we should be able to surround him with lots of athletic players who can offset his defensive shortcomings. Hopkins is a key to that strategy. Unlike last year we should be able to tolerate a little more foul trouble with this year's team. Hayes could factor in as well for spot minutes.

Oh I hope he gets there, didnt mean to sound pesimistic. If josh can play all season and put that stat line, then it will be great for him and amazing for gtown. Would really open things up for the back court to find open shots.

Honestly, I cannot think of a single intellectually-honest reason to expect any meaningful production from Josh Smith this season. I certainly hope that despite repeatedly failing at multiple chances and squandering opportunities that were always presented to him as his last he somehow found a new path that leads in a positive direction--it would be good for him as a person even more than as a basketball player--but until the games begin and he sees meaningful time on the floor, I think the only fair assumption is that he will be a neutral-to-negative contributor for the 2014-2015 Hoyas.
