To be fair, look at all the space that RPI has to build. A quick check of Google Earth shows they have a football field (with a track around it), a field house, another full size T&F field, an artificial turf field for soccer and lacrosse, two more grass fields, plus this new arena and stadium. That doesn't include all the baseball and softball fields, and tennis courts.

"We are updating our building plans for the Multi-Sport Field and hope to have some very exciting news to share in the very near future relative to the completion of that project." Lee Reed Director of Intercollegiate Athletics November 2018 Fingers crossed...

July 27, 2015 marked day 3,600 since construction was "temporarily" halted.
Think about that for a moment.

Man, a ten million dollar gift could be used in so many better ways. It's a facility that hosts two middling non-revenue sports. One that I guess has the potential to compete, since there isn't a huge funding gap between lacrosse and its peers and due to the school's location in the heart of a fertile lacrosse recruiting area, albeit in a third tier sport in terms of upside, and another that probably won't ever be very competitive, since there is and will continue to be a huge funding gap between football and its peers.

Honestly why dont you do everyone a favor and edited off? You obviously detest this program. Why expend energy being such a jerk about it? Dont you have anything better to do?

The field hockey team plays at the MSF as well, so that's four teams that use it as their home field. "Non-revenue sport" is sort of a meaningless term in this context, unless you want to argue that the vast majority of college athletics is not worth spending money on. There is exactly one net-profitable sport at Georgetown, and there are very few, if any, instances of a school having more than two sports in that category. The MSF is also used heavily as a practice facility by a number of sports, as well as on occasion by club sports, student events, etc. It gets a TON of use, which is why the field has had to be replaced ahead of schedule due to wear and tear. Moreover, the MSF is a highly-visible structure in the heart of campus, so there is a strong aesthetic interest in not having it be a continued eyesore. To the extent that it currently actively detracts from the campus, remedying that is absolutely worthwhile, irrespective of the fortunes of the football program.

I guess I was just arguing against the scale of the donation, which is why I invoked the "revenue sport" issue. Didn't know Field Hockey used it now.

This. Big time. There could not possibly be a better pound for pound campus improvement than a $10mm permanent stadium replacing high school bleachers and porta johns in what is now the heart of campus.
I also have to think a c. 6k seat stadium (anticipating a grassy hill for overflow crowds in the Business building endzone) would be a fantastic option for commencements, graduations, spring concerts, etc. heck if there is room put in a track and get that great program in there as well.

The going long-term vision for Track & Field is to add a regulation track around the rebuilt Shaw Field for soccer once it trades places with the current location of Yates. So no chance of a track at the MSF. And commencement (or rather, the man ultimately in charge of commencement, one JJD) seems pretty wedded to Healy Lawn.
Even with that, though, everything else still holds true, and the possibility of concerts and other activities in an unsucked MSF (or whatever it will eventually be named. Presumably not the John Reagandome or Problem of Dog Memorial Field) should not be dismissed. Depending on what the final design is and what ancillary facilities are included with it, it could free up even more space in the eventually-renovated McDonough for other athletic pursuits.

What is the long term plan with Yates? Totally rebuilt where Shaw is now? Presumably that is a 9 figure project decade(s) away from being funded if I know Gtown?
