Guys, there are quite a few of us on the board who either knew or were acquainted with both Allen and Vic. I'm not going to comment on either's intelligence, "social skills" (whatever those are), or whether they were "bad seeds."
Let me just say this: I liked both guys. Seemed pretty nice. And somehow I doubt anyone on this board knew them well enough (I certainly didn't) to say things like one was a "bad seed."

Did Vic get shot in southeast late at night doing god knows what? No. I recall the reports said he was sitting in his car at an intersection in the middle of the day.

oh give me a break - vic page is a thug. and whether you were a fluffer or not for AI or VP doesn't make him any more or less a thug. The [guy] wielded a broom handle as a weapon to attack someone - that to me = not well-adjusted.
AI on the other hand, despite some rough spots, has comported himself well and is one of my favorite nba players - he has totally won we over as a competitor and a human being.

Keeping fighting your battle the_way but I still know that deep down you know exactly what I mean. My examples show a pattern of behavior. Yes, some guys probably had it rougher then Vic & Allen but I can't say that I was ashamed to say that the guy went to the same school as me. There is a certain core level of intelligence that it takes to even get by at G'town. Would you agree???
Assuming you agree, do you think Vic had that core level of intelligence???
Assuming you probably don't agree, do you think if you had been reviewing 18 year olds track records for 20 plus years, you might have a better ability to gauge someones strengths and weaknesses and ability to succeed at G'town???

So, Allen is a better human being because he is a great NBA player and Vic is not!? Allen was involved in several incidents with the law after he left GU. How does that differ from what Vic did after he left. So as long as someone who had trouble plays great in the NBA ball than he is a better human being than another guy with troubles that didn' make it in the NBA. Is that what you are saying? Unbelievable. Like I said before, if you were not there you don't know what happened to provoke Vic from doing that. Vic is not a thug. I think its a shame when you use terms like that. Vic has had problems just like anybody else. I'm glad you live such perfect lives that you are above reproach. Is Charles Smith a disgrace to GU from what occurred after he left. He made a mistake, I'm sure he regrets wholeheartedly. We all make mistakes. Vic is not a thug nor is he a disgrace. He is man he has experience trouble in his life, just like any other HUMAN BEING. I'm sure all of us have done things in the past that we are not proud or reacted in ways that are beyond belief. I just find it amusing that people get on this high and mighty kick ,and start labeling people thugs and disgraces when they don't even know the people they label.

In the words of Dan Akroyd, The_Way you ignorant slut!
Just curious, what level of behavior do you deem to be a disgrace? I have gotten pretty fired up in my day, and I have never tried to beat someone with a broom stick. Also, could you answer my question from above about being able to judge kids after 20+ years. Do you not agree that you would eventually get a feel for those that fit and deserve a chance and those that don't?
Vic should have played under Calipari or Huggins as that is the type of recruit they pull in.

Or was it Chevy Chase? Nah, I think it was Dan Akroyd.

Let me try another approach, the_way. Michael Jackson (the singer not baller) has been accused on many occassions of questionable behavior around children. At what point do you judge him and say that he doesn't deserve a second chance and probably has some problems that might not be easily solved?
I am not perfect and I would like to live in this world that you live in where you never judge someone and you always give somebody a second chance, but that unfortunately is not the world that I, and most people, live in.

Like I said before, You act like Vic had the worst past of any GU player ever coming in his freshman year. He didn't. I lot of GU guys that graduated and are successful in life had checkered pasts or came from environments very similar or even a lot worse than Vic's. Vic was not the first case JT2 came across and thought it may be a risk taking him. JT2 gave him a chance and it didn't work out. But JT2 gave several others chances who had checkered pasts and it DID work out. That is what I am saying. Vic was not a Bob Huggins type player or Calipari type player. To say that shows that you do not know him.

God I admire you the_way!
As someone who does pass judgement, hey I am human, it is good to see that others are so benevolent that they have never judged a single book by its cover.
NOW WHO ELSE IS GOING PRO???

It was Ackroyd.
Like I said, I didn't know Vic well, but he was always nice to me. Not really sure what you mean by thug, but when I saw Vic he wasn't usually walking around picking fights, flashing gang signs or whatever. He was usually smiling and laughing, and always talking to whomever was around. He mixed in with a very non-thug student body.
I'm well aware that Vic chased a guy with a broom, but blaming him for getting shot in DC is crazy. I suppose he could never have gone back to a violent neighborhood, but that's easier done when it isn't home. From all accounts, it was random violence.

Also, keep in mind that the "alleged" sword assault was part of an "alleged" robbery (which was followed a few years later by another "alleged" robbery with a gun in his hand). Victor had problems to be sure, but I think his was a case where a temper got out of control during a fight, something that happens to the best of us, even if most wouldn't turn to a broom handle to settle the fight. I don't think the "alleged" Kenny Brunner episodes fall in the same category. (I say alleged of course because I can't remember if there was ever a conviction related to any of these incidents.)

Neither one will enter and not hire an agent? Im surprised Boone wouldnt put his name in and see where he stands w/o hiring an agent... I heard hes on a 3 year degree program, meaning hed be graduating after next year, so it wouldnt make any sense for him to not throw his name in and go to some workouts this year... He has a shot to get a lotto guarantee IMO, a better shot than Taft or Charlie IMO.

Just to notify everyone, Von Wafer for FSU has declared for the draft. If he decides to stay in the draft, this totally kills FSU- there offense is based upon his game.
