Understand your view and I, too, hate to think of the chaos that would ensue from allowing open transfers. Nevertheless, I cannot cannot help but side with the players, whose trust is placed in a coaching staff only to wake up and discover one April morning that the coach is bolting for a better opportunity at another program. The same is true when the school administration terminates the coach. I believe that if a coach leaves a program, voluntarily or otherwise, then the kids should not be restricted in transferring or required to sit out a year, provided that the player is on target to graduate on time. This creates an incentive for the player to maintain his/her studies but also recognizes that these kids should not be "punished" when the school loses or terminates a coaching staff. I actually do agree with you in this particular circumstance. I would not have an objection to waiving the year where a coach leaves. I agree that that is unfair to the players, especially since they have absolutely no influence in whether a coach stays or goes. It also makes no sense that a recruit who is committed to a school (like Kenny Williams) can be released and play immediately, but someone who has already enrolled in college cannot. This change would definitely hurt schools who change coaches (since the existing players in many circumstances would probably leave in a mass exodus), but I think the unfairness to players outweighs that negative.

Looks like we are in the mix for a bunch of folks...but it is also noted that there is a "long line" for these guys who are immediately eligible. I do not remember there being such a "free agent market" for these guy in the old days. Has something in the rules changed, or just more publicity about it, in the internet age?

Williams-Goss basically averaged 16/5/6, with two 30+ point games and 28 in a late season win vs. Utah.

Only problem with Williams-Goss is that he's not immediately eligible, so we'd still be thin at guard next year

Any word on Dylan Ennis? I know he went to Villanova, but if he's a graduate transfer he should not have to sit out. He had an 108.8 O rating and shoots threes fairly well (36.8). It's been pretty quiet about him, even outside the Georgetown hemisphere.

Don't know where he's going, but I think he'd have to sit out a year if he transferred in conference, versus being eligible immediately somewhere else. Not an option for us.

Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn
Damion Lee, arguably most coveted transfer in country, told ESPN has narrowed list to Arizona, Gonzaga, Louisville, Marquette, Maryland.

Believe I saw a list that included Purdue and Illinois. Maybe Oregon also?

Surprised Wisconsin isn't after him since his brother is playing for the Bucks.
