Hm. "delusional" "strange" "weird" "nonsense" - heard it all before but my opinions are well thought out which BE teams can unequivocally beat GU if GU played their best? Maybe 1 or 2....We'll see. I'll just keep making crazy talk

Has anyone figured out why we have a SOS of 12 in RPI and 8 at KenPom but 50 in BPI. Can ESPN really have that big of a bias against the BE that it is so skewed?

Can anyone refresh my memory, but were we even on the bubble (or close to it) in the 08-09 season? Not even close. If you believe NIT seedings as a proxy, we were a 6 seed in the NIT that year.

I think it's a very simple analysis. I think if we win tomorrow, then we are definitely in the NCAAs. 9-9 gives the selection committee coverage to extend a bid. Our SOS and Top 50 wins would be significantly better than any other bubble team. I think if we lose tomorrow, then we have to win the BET tourney to get into the dance. I don't think the selection committee can let in an 8-10 Big East team as an at-large, no matter what. The committee does not consider conference record. They have mentioned it lots of times, and it makes sense for them not to consider it since conference schedules are unbalanced. Reports from mock selections back this up too. I know it's hard to believe, but I really don't think it matters. You can point to the fact that few teams have made it who are under .500 in conference, but that doesn't prove anything because, of course, teams that are under .500 in conference tend to be teams with poor overall resumes. There ARE examples of under .500 teams making it.

And yet there is a difference between realist and pessimist. No matter where you live. Rust Cohle disagrees.

Is purple crazy? Yes. Would you want to face a team like Gtown in the tourney? No. Always said tourney time is all about guards and we got em. However ito win the BET you have to have some bruisers too.

We need to win today...period. The team needs to treat this game as if it were an elimination game.

I agree. If we win today, we are very likely in the tournament as of that moment. If we don't, we are not. Then, you move on to the next elimination game..

I'm probably a "Debbie Downer" here, but I think that unless GU wins today, the only shot at an NCAA berth is by winning the BET. An 8-10 record in a balanced league schedule, and our recent unfortunate flame-out history in the NCAAs, will not encourage the committee to give the Hoyas the benefit of the doubt, even with all of the Top 50 wins and SOS. Some school gets hosed every year, and I think that it is set up for it to be our year for hosedom. Sorry, but that's my perspective.

I think this is a bigger game for Nova than us. Let me explain. We're all in. No way out gotta win. But Nova has plenty of reasons to mail it in. So this game is really about their character. Do they have the guts and pride to compete against a truly desperate opponent? Do they fight back, especially if they fall behind late. If I'm Jay Wright this is what I'm telling my team . Puts a lot of pressure on them especially if we play well.

Some school gets hosed every year, and I think that it is set up for it to be our year for hosedom. Sorry, but that's my perspective. I said it before, but it's worth saying again. None of this is set in stone. A lot depends on results for other bubble teams. A lot depends on the subjective nature of the tournament committee. A lot depends on the wins we get in the BET without actually winning the BET. Nobody knows what will happen in any of these areas. We don't know what teams will get upset in the next week. We don't know what the individual subjective feelings of tournament members are. We don't know if we will pull off wins against Butler, Creighton, Xavier to get to the BE Finals and whether that right there is enough to get into the NCAAs. I respect everyone's right to an opinion, and this pessimistic view may indeed wind up proving correct. But, everyone should really discount any sense of certainty about this one way or another at this point....

I think 3 wins in the BET would do it; that would include wins over Creighton and possibly Xavier, and gets us to 11-11 even without the title.

Arkansas had a pretty bad loss, too. The season is not over yet. Nova is a legit national championship contender this year, IMO. That was an incredibly tough task for us.
