Don't be surprised to see him at one of our games soon. I sure hope we get him to a game and on campus ASAP! I hope the staff goes really really hard after Lykes. It would be nice to have our own elite quick guard that we could put in pick n roll situations that get down hill quickly in the key and break down the other teams defense, or push the ball in the open court for easy transition baskets because I'm surely tired of watching other teams quick guards with elite speed destroying our defense. Also so would be nice to have someone with the quickness and foot speed to stay with these other teams guards defensively that have constantly killed us. I'M ALL IN FOR CHRIS LYKES!!! Chris Lykes game and style of play is what the Hoyas are missing on the team right now! We definitely could have used him tonight, against Radford, Monmounth, UNC Asheville, Ohio U, FGCU, VCU (did I forget any team that sped us up and used their quickness against us) or any other nights teams want to try and make the game a track meet.

Gonzaga @ St Johns (Top 2 Teams in D.C)
Chris Lykes vs. Anthony Cowan (Maryland commit 2016)
Chris Lykes is virtually ungaurdable. He Played most of the game in heavy foul trouble and with St. John's keying on him went off for 28 points with 5 points coming in the last 15 seconds of regulation including racing up the court for deep pull up 3 pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. St. John's would go on to win in overtime 75-72. Back to Lykes, the kid is ridiculous. He stroke the deep ball, has a ridiculous handle, can score in a variety of ways (get to the cup, floater, pull up and from deep) and finishes through contact in ridiculous fashion. Lykes had a ridiculous hesitation dribble move during OT that was nullified by a bogus carrying call.
IMO, Lykes is the 2nd best PG in the 2017 class behind Trevon Duval who is the best PG in high school regardless of class. If Lykes was 6'0" tall he would be top 10 in the country. Lykes may never play a day in the NBA but that doesn't mean he won't be an outstanding college player. He reminds me of a smaller Kemba Walker but with better court vision. This kid plays with a competitive fire, determination and love of the game that I wouldn't be totally surprised if he was to have a long career in the Association.

The offense was great in the video above, but did anyone take a look at his D? More than a couple times he let his man go right by him for an easy bucket. I'm not sure if that was due to foul trouble related to that game or that is his baseline. This current Hoya team needs defense more than anything, we already have guys that can fill it up.

2nd best PG in the country? That is a ridiculous statement.

An undersized quick guard who can penetrate, distribute and shoot the three ... GU needs to sign him before he ends up a mid-major and kills us in the 1st round of the NCAAs! Just kidding .. I've seen him play and he is fun. I think his game translates to the next level, particularly on the offensive end. From a passing standpoint, he'd be the best we've had since Kenny Brunner ... high praise indeed.

I am tired of molding shooting guards into point guards. Just recruit a kid that's a natural PG already! It's killing us.

If you read my post, I stated Lykes was in heavy foul trouble. He picked up his 2nd foul towards the end of the 1st quarter and his 4th in the middle of 3rd quarter so he had to play matador defense the rest of the way. It actually speaks to his Bball IQ. He knows his team has no chance to win without him on the floor. It's actually on his teammates to slide over and be in position to help because they know Lykes can't take a chance by playing pressure defense and fouling out with his 5th. The Hoyas have had Upperclassmen that weren't smart enough to avoid fouling out of games that cost us big games.

I'm not all in like others because I've learned not to get to hyped up about a recruit but this kid definitely can and probably will thrive at the HM level. My main concern with him coming here is defense, unless we find a shot blocker between then and now. Maybe with the new rules it'd be better to have a turnstile up top but more support down low.

I know I'm biased but to me the G'town should immediately jump to the top of his list..
I hope the staff is very aggressive & persistent with him..

Check out @iam_Lykesdat's Tweet: !!!! SUCCSESS!!! The first goal of the Coalition is achieved. This tells me that JT3 see's all the positives that Lykes brings to the table and how the benefit of having a guard can get downhill along with the rule changes can really be a difference maker. After seeing so many guards like Lykes beat us over the years, JT3 is adapting to the new college basketball. At least now I have some company in my Coalition as it sounds like JT3 and staff have joined. Now to finalize our goal.... I'M All IN FOR CHRIS LYKES!!! Hopefully JT3 & Staff are as well.Brought to you by the Chris Lykes Needs to Commit to Georgetown Coalition!!!
