No. 168 6’3 2017 Blake Harris of Carlisle School (Va) Blake got hurt toward the end of the first game however, he displayed his high level ability to make plays. Coach Keyford Langley stated, “Blake shows a great balance of offense and defense. He makes the game look so easy, for himself and teammates. It was easy to see why he is regarded as one of the best players in the country.”

Monte Bernard @cheese74 6h6 hours ago Florida State was at Carlisle yesterday to see Quentin Jackson and Blake Harris @coach_Rick57 @vantagehoops” phenomhoopreport.com/160933/No. 44 6’3 ’17 Blake Harris of Carlisle School (VA) Blake was on everyone’s local radar, but his performance at the NC Phenom 150 camp elevated him in the national discussion as one of the premier point guards in his class. Jerry Meyer of 247 now has Blake as a Five Star prospect and ranked no. 15 nationally. Blake is a crafty ball handler but his passing skills were on another level. He has improved his jump shot although it could have better backspin and rotation. That being said, he is really good of the dribble. For Blake, the game comes easy and used the courts at Proehlific Court as his own personal playground. phenomhoopreport.com/nc-phenom-150-session-2-team-1/No. 168 6’3 2017 Blake Harris of Carlisle School (Va) Blake got hurt toward the end of the first game however, he displayed his high level ability to make plays. Vantage Hoops @vantagehoops · 4h 4 hours ago 2017 Devante Carter will transfer from Genesis Academy to Capitol Christian (MD) per his father. Also where Chris Orlina attends #VaHoops Rick Lewis @coach_Rick57 Sep 24 Per coach Simpkins Genesis Academy 2017 6'3 185 lbs CG Devante Carter has picked up an offer from Kansas State University Corey Pegram @coreypegram Oct 18 2017 Devante Carter so impressive on both ends. Powerful lead guard who can really score. Awesome feel. Showed it all today. High level. Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Jul 18 2017 Genesis guard Devante Carter is one to watch. ODU, Richmond, Virginia, Minnesota involved Devante Carter – Boo Williams Chiz – Woodside 6’1 2016 Becoming even more assertive and for long stretches would be welcomed, but Carter is looking more and more like the top true point guard in Virginia’s sophomore class. His combination of size, strength, and court sense make for a UVA-type guard, and he once again showed a blend of scoring and facilitating capabilities. He processes the game, he has a point guard skillset, and his physical strength can be overpowering. - See more at: www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/386450?referrer_id=1102873#sthash.o0U8Uo2m.dpuf6’2/6’3 PG recently re-clased to 2017 getting some buzz lately

Now that the Dozier's ferrous-wheel is in full swing, what are we looking like for a backup center? IMO, Tacko was perfect for us while adding tremendous height to the position.

We’ll still have Hayes so most likely 2 legit centers for next year. I wouldn’t be mad if the next Center they add is a 2016 kid. At some point I think they point their attention here but not really worried about Gtown’s ability to land Bigs with the current staff.

Interesting to see how much Hayes actually plays this year. My guess is that Hop still sees significant time in the middle as the backup. Good thing is, we'll find out really soon!

I don't want to see Hopkins as our back up center. We need to develop Hayes. Not to mention, Hopkins has made it clear that he does not want to play center--nor is it his natural fit. He is a much better power forward. Let's have Josh anchor it for us in the middle, and Hayes substitute for him. I would like to see us pick up another center for next year.

I don't think any of us have wanted to see Hop at the 5 but it is what it is. Judging by past performance only (not having seen what improvements the guys have made over the summer), there's little reason to believe that Hayes will get more than spot minutes and that Hop, because of that, will have to be the backup 5. That would be more disconcerting if Hop had developed his other skills to make him a better 4. He has to an extent but not enough to have him starting at that spot. I'm hoping both Hop and Hayes have made big jumps over the summer such that Hop can play 4 and be successful and that Hayes has improved enough to be solid enough on defense on the boards such that he's making positive contributions. We shall see. Can the season just start already?

He is a senior this year. Hayes, also in my opinion, just needs actual game experience. We can certainly use his 7' frame out there on the defensive end. As I have said many times now, we are going to have to let these guys play in real games so that they are ready come March. I do agree, though, that the season needs to start aready.
