Greg Whittington could have brought something..but we had him last year and lost too...dont know...he could not stop all of Florida's Gulf Coast Guards or the guy who kept dunking on us..dont even know his name He would have given him some problems with his length

I'm starting to wish that conference realignment had forced us to revert to Ivy League-like basketball.

Where was the defense?!?!
I get that we couldn't hit a shot for long stretches, but the lack of defense?
I don't understand why we kept going small with Bowen and didn't try a bigger line up that included Moses? You know, a line up that we played more than a handful of times this season.
Agree that this is on III. I want him to be our coach but this is on him.
#perspective My wife's surgery was a success today. If I could only get one win today that was the one.

I really believe that athleticism and speed beats skill if you are well-coached. GU needed a tad more athleticism, speeed and defense. And that's where Whitington would've helped. Also, if GU had a DOMINANT BIG MAN, they don't lose this game. I mean, no excuse for Hopkins as a 5 to be scored on by the PG more than once. Also, I'm really at a loss as to Lubick and Porter. I mean, really, fumbling the ball out of bounds, careless passes. Unbelievable....Sigh...

Classic case of playing not lo lose rather than playing to win. We came out fearful and afraid to make mistakes. And what is totally disheartening is that this is a pattern that gets repeated over and over.
And for a team unacustomed to playing from behind and lacking poise in the face of a strutting team feeling its oats, we just fell apart.

good season we overachieved this year. we practically have a 6-man rotation with Whittington out. That wasn't going to cut it in the tournament this year. III is a good coach. He just needs to recruit and build a roster better, especially with guards. We need better athletes and some ballhandlers in the backcourt. Pipe dream. Has not happened yet, so what makes you think it will happen anytime soon? Mark Turgeon comes into MD and recruits better already in his 2nd year. You want to make the argument that Turgeon is not a good coach, fine but he is getting better recruits.

Yea...we got out scouted...they took the game to us...no shame in that...the shame is it took too damn long to adjust to what the hell they were doing We never adjusted. Should have packed in a tight zone all 2nd half. keep the 3 open and stop switching so much on defense. They clearly scouted all our switching and exploited. I figured that out within the first 5-10 minutes of the game. The fact that we still continued to get burned on cuts to the hoop after switches in the second half is mind boggling.

Moses would've been toast. Going for pump fakes and jab steps and street ball was another pitfall.

What's worse: having a mediocre team all year that catches lightning in the tournament or having a consistently good team inseason and sh**ing the bed in tournaments?

Why do we let inferior teams do whatever they want? How were they inferior? That one dude was playing above the rim and the other players were quicker to the ball than we were. This isn't the 1980's or 90's anymore. This team beat Miami this year.
