Two points about dunking: 1. In the Kansas game, why did AB not dunk at full speed instead of going for the full speed (no feel) lay-up? IIRC, he almost air-balled it. 2. Would JTJR complain if Hops only took 360 dunks and always made them?

Would JTJR complain if Hops only took 360 dunks and always made them? 1. IIRC, Bowen was too near/under the basket because he received the ball too late on the break so no time to dunk and had to throw the ball up at the backboard. 2. No.

Again III has 12 other scholarship players that he has to coach. How many of us believe that Peak, Copeland, White and Jabril can not execute a 360 dunk. Should each be free to try a 360 every time they had a breakaway dunk in a game if they were having a good scoring game? Again it's not that he dunked the ball but that the dunk was one with a high degree of difficulty that he could have clanked because of the degree of difficulty. I would love to see all the Hoyas that can dunk the ball, dunk it instead of trying to kiss it off the back board. If you do a simple task over and over again it becomes second nature and you will not freeze up in a tight game when you have to execute that task again. However, if the decision is should you add a little excitement for yourself and the fans, the decision tree has too many branches and the odds of you flubbing the shot increases. Go ahead and flush it young man either too handed or one handed, even over the back of you head but think about what lesson your coach is trying to teach to you if he frowns on a 360.

This thread isn't to CDBD-levels yet, but I'm just shocked that it is starting to get there.
Now turn down that damn rock music and get off my lawn!

T Meanwhile he makes his son look silly at times, like a boy who is unwilling or unable to tell his grumpy dad to cut it out and act nice in public. JT3 had a great quote at his press conference when he was hired about what it's like to be the son of Big John. I think it applies now just as much as it did then. Clearly he's comfortable with his dad's role in the program. I have no doubt that if JT3 didn't want his dad at press conferences, JT2 wouldn't be there. As far as not acting grumpy and being nice in public, is this the first you've experienced of JT2? That old leopard is not going to change his spots.

I lived through seasons when it was against the rules to dunk. So there! this year, the number of dunks has surpassed the last two years combined (i don't know that for a fact, but feels like it)

Stats vs Charlotte 49ers
17 mins., 11 pts., 3/6 FG's, 1/1 3pt., 4/4 FT's, 1 Asst., 1 Stl
The biggest contribution to the game beside the pressure defense and alley-oop dunks were the 2 back to back free throws to give the Hoyas the lead for good with under 1 min left in the game.

If Aaron could just stop leaving his man wide open for 3's . . . Yeah, he keeps giving them wide open looks at 3.

Of course he was not the only one yesterday. But he tries to help and/or go for steals, and strays a little too far. Just needs to stay closer to home so he can still close out on the 3.

The same appeared to be true of Copeland yesterday and LJ earlier in the season. Hopefully this improves across the board. I get that DSR needs some help at times against certain guards but it's definitely been overcompensation to this point. Having said that, I'm impressed with Aaron's progress with his shot and with better decisions on the offensive side of things in general. His contributions have been important and he's making his case for extended minutes. He's an easy guy to root for for a bunch of reasons and I'm glad that I'm getting a chance to do exactly that. Hopefully he's proven that he deserves minutes against the Kansases of the CBB world too. I get that matchups are important but, with the things he's able to do, he should get legit minutes regardless of the opponent.

I truly believe the team plays better when Aaron is in there. He gives this team a lift and life that they need on both ends. He is the perfect guy to have coming off the bench when we hit a lull in scoring or even disrupting on defense. He does gamble, and give up a shot or two, but no one complains when he guesses right and has one of those energizing fast break plays. Hope he continues to get meaningful minutes going forward.

I think he should start ahead of jabril; however JTIII is more enamored with jabril, so ain't happening

I would like to see a lineup with Hops, Bowen, White, Peak, and Copeland come together sometime this year during a game, not necessarily starting. I just believe this group is super athletic, even deadly.

I see turnovers... lots and lots of turnovers. Agree they are athletic, but no experienced hands in that 5 and as promising as White and Peak are, they are not equipped to initiate our offense yet.

Good lord. I think Aaron has played very well this year, but if you honestly need to chalk up Trawick starting over him to some unjustified, irrational love of Trawick on JTIII's part.... well, the rest of that sentence breaks the board's rules.
Why does JTIII need to be "enamored" of Trawick? Why can't he just believe that the team is better with Trawick than with Bowen? Why can't he value different things than you, or gasp, value them better? I'm not necessarily even saying JTIII needs to be right, but I don't understand why this group of fans jumps right over "Coach and I may both have rational reasons for believing different things and it's an understandable difference of opinion" to "I am so obviously right that coach must be harboring a grudge against my player/be an idiot/have an irrational love for player I don't like."
Look, it's obvious I've never been a fan of Hopkins. But I understand why JTIII plays him. I may not agree with him on everything, but I respect him enough to understand that a) he's better at his job than I would be and more relevantly, b) he likely has good, rational reasons for doing what he does.

Trawick starts over White and Copeland because of his experience on defense and offensive schemes. Trawick starts over Bowen because of his handle. He does not have a great handle but is more reliable in breaking a press with the dribble. If Bowen had had a reliable handle when he got to DC he would have played a lot more minutes. He is a two dribble and sky player. Any more dribbing than that and he is a turnover risk.
