Speaking of which, I had totally forgot Joe Alexander went #8 in that draft! Wow, he never even got a 2nd NBA contract.

There were some gems in Roy's draft (Rose, Westbrook, Love), but I wonder where Roy would have been drafted had teams had another crack at the 2008 draft: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_NBA_DraftI think Roy would go top 5. As of this moment, perhaps, though I don't know if that was true before these playoffs - that is actually a very strong draft overall, with a few notable busts. Incredible that 7-8 starting centers came out of that one draft: Roy, B. Lopez, R. Lopez Koufos, Pekovic, Jordan, Asik, McGee. Not to mention quality 4/5 types like Ibaka, Hickson, Speights, and Jason Thompson. That Alexis Ajinca pick really has to sting.

So, including Roy, the top 10 from that draft are probably Rose, Westbrook, Love, Mayo, Gordon, B. Lopez, Ibaka, Batum and Pekovic. Roy's better than Pek, Batum and Mayo for sure (if you disagree on top 10, we're probably disagreeing on people that Roy would go ahead of). I'd rather have him than Eric Gordon and his knee injuries and I'd take him ahead of Ibaka due to actual defensive presence and their respective performances in the playoffs this year. So that gets him in the top 5, behind Rose, Westbrook, Love and B. Lopez (and I'd hear arguments for him over Lopez based on rebounding, defense and the potential for Roy to match Lopez' offensive production).

And I recall prominent members of this board swearing there was no way the Lopez twins - from California - would ever make it the NBA. Guaranteed busts. Not suggesting you were one of them Tbird. I just recalled that when I read your comments. Oh, and let's never forget dear Ignatius... who was so emphatic and later embarrassed that he dropped his screen name, never to appear again (at least under that name). I will add though, after seeing Roy as a Freshman, I did not have the foresight to project him as an NBA All Star and a key difference maker in the NBA Eastern Finals! GO ROY!!

Chris Andersen suspended for game 6. Roy should dominate if they get him the ball.

Who knows what Andersen was or was not necessarily going to do? It's one less pest.

It's still Heat vs Pacers, and the best team wins!

It's garbage. Not worth anyone's time. The fact that it is written by that dull (so bad he was kicked off the NBA show in favor of Bill Simmons), pathetic, know-nothing (his inside info is almost always wrong), hiding-behind-the-Bible-gay-bashing idiot tells em you are probably right. How interesting he is writing a piece on Hibbert consideing that over the last week I've twice head him on radio shows giving Roy a "compliment" by callng him mediocre.

He calls Roy mediocre 3-4 times in this story as well. One money quote from his conclusion should satisfy the curiosity of most:

Once again, Roy had a mediocre 24 points and 11 mediocre rebounds in a mediocre victory over the mediocre, defending NBA Champion Miami Heat.

If Roy dunked like DeAndre Jordan I suppose he would think better of him. What I don't get is the narrative from so many of the media that Roy did not have any moves, any footwork or any sign of that hook shot when coming out of GU.

All HOYA fans should be proud of Roy and the program at the way Roy has developed from basically an unskilled freshman through constant work to the best center in the NBA. It didn't come easy or quickly, but his devotion to developing his skill sets. Way to go 55.
