Whatever. They will end up winning around 55 games this year. I will say Nash looked pretty lost. Didn't know when to run the pick and roll and generally was reduced to playing like Steve Blake (i.e. shooting spot up threes) except he's a worse defender. He will have better games but to me he's the one guy I question how this whole thing works. His career has basically been based on running the pick and roll better than anyone and being a great shooter. He's being asked to do something very different right now. And this. Nash looked like Ramon Sessions - last night. The Lakers have to adapt to his strengths, or they're wasting their time. Also, the defense stank. It seemed like Dallas was getting open short jumpers all night. Plus, Howard still looks a step slow to me, which is totally understandable.

^^^ this. Its one game. One freaking game. It was one game against a team that has plenty of pieces. If Crowder and Beaubois hadn't stepped up they would be singing a different tune...

After the hat I'm rooting hard for the Lakers to win it all just to show kids and idiots that you can win big with the Princeton Offense.

It is only one game and for those of us that understand the PO, we know it can be run better.
HOWEVER, I think big picture and the impact it can have on recruiting these highly touted kids, it looks bad and the discussion of it in the aftermath by pundits around the league doesnt help. If the Lakers win tonight, I doubt the PO will be praised. So its damned if you do, damned if you dont.
For those on social media sites, the offense was getting dismantled all over twitter and fbook by not only regular people, but analysts, columnists and players. The only game of Nash's career where he played more than 20 minutes and had less than 10 points and 5 assists.

I only watched a quarter, but I couldn't believe how little Nash had the ball in his hands. I felt like he never took the ball up the court. It will be interesting to see if he can get the ball in his hands a little more.

Lakers aren't likely to win tonight, because they've only won twice in Portland over the last ten years (that's only a slight exaggeration).
Criticism of the PO is stupidity. It ran pretty well in Sacramento, and some (not me, but some) would say that the only reason the Kings didn't win a tltle is because the Lakers received outside assistance. The Lakers' defense was consistently worse than the offense last night. Was that the Princeton Defense they were playing?

This whole thread commentary on the game is what other coaches are using against us. Good work everyone. Our own fan base is criticizing the offense of another team that we run. Lol.
The Princeton offense does not EVER prohibit us from getting out and running like UK or UNC. In fact we did a ton more of that recently. Our offense is effective when we get shots somewhat early in the clock. It looks painful and stagnates when our guys look too content to just run the play through over and over. That's my only complaint. We do this consistently and it's something III needs to change philosophy wise. When we get a lead or big lead we start eating clock by running the offense through longer. Our offense stagnates and allows teams to get back in the game. It's not the offense. The offense creates the lead. The philosophy to take the foot off the pedal has proven fatal over and over. Our offense is very effective when run without that caveat. That's a fact.

Glad you think so highly of the board but this conversation is not changing a recruits mind on Georgetown. Barkley and other media members bashing the offense could have some impact, but this board discussing it certainly will not. I think this test with the Lakers is huge because of the attention the Lakers get. Many teams in the NBA have run versions of the PO before but it doesn't make national media because it is not the Lakers. The PO being run by the Lakers is like going to a high limit table in blackjack where people actually know how you did. If it works it looks good and hopefully people start talking about it positively. If it fails it hurts the PO being an option in the NBA for the future. Either way that is only one part of recruiting. JTIII, our name recognition, being in DC, playing in the Big East, and the other things that recruits like about us do not change based on the Lakers win-loss record.

I am unfortunately watching this Lakers-Clippers game. I have heard the words Princeton Offense way too much, including Nash being interviewed about it. They can call it whatever they want, but all I see the Lakers do is run down the court make one pass, then everyone stands there and watches the receiver of the pass try to make a move/shot. Here, i thought the PO was based off of movement without the ball and finding the best shot possible. All it looks like the Lakers are doing is running iso's after one pass.

Two games into the season and it's already old. How many times is our offense going to be compared to the Lakers during our games?? It will be one of the talking points in each game, along with no seniors on the team, etc...

Yeah and if our offense is going to be compared they're going to realize how much more crisp and efficiently we run it...

Yeah and if our offense is going to be compared they're going to realize how much more crisp and efficiently we run it... As long as when we're watching Hoya games and they don't bring up the words: "Georgetown is using the Mike Brown Laker Defense"---Hoyas should be fine. If I hear those 8 words--I'll have deep concern.

Too bad their first win of the season was against Greg and the Pistons.
