Yeah that's truly awful. Was seriously considering making the trip if the prices were more accessible (and assuming I could actually get a ticket) but that's just absurd. There's really going to be enough people who are going to swallow that price to make it a full house (ship?)?

Much like those who live in Lexington, they're "better fans" than those in DC...

There's another carrier game in Mount Pleasant SC on the Yorktown. $500 a ticket.

This is a total money grab. We are watching college students play, right? This isn't the national championship. If I was the AD, I'd tell the organizers, that we want 500 tix for our supporters at $50 each or find someone else to play. No one from Dc wants to watch the Jags play; they can't fill their stadium anymore.

Just a heads up that tickets went on sale this morning and appear to still be available here. I agree the prices are crazy for a single game. It's worth it for me since the game's in my hometown. Keeps expenses down and makes the football tickets a nice, if overpriced addition rather than a worthless throw-in. Hope we can get as many Hoyas as possible there (including Hoya fans in the service seats). If it's locals it will be a Gator washout.

I wrote the AD to complain, got an email back from the tix office, / The $1000 buys TWO tickets to the game and TWO tickets to the Jags game and three tickets for servicemen to our game.

It's still $500 per person for 1 game that you actually want to see. The NFL game for some perhaps most is not a benefit and the fact that you're paying for servicemen to go doesn't really do much for me personally to make this sticker price hurt any less.

agreed, just wanted to put the info out there. I think playing on a carier is a novel thing to watch, but truly a luxury the average faan can't afford to see live.

$1000 for that package is totally reasonable people, get over it. You couldn't get on an active duty carrier any other day of the week for $10,000. You are getting 7 tickets for that price - you can pooh-pooh the football game but buying a ticket for a sailor to see a topflight game on the boat has to be worth $100 to all but the most jaded, cheap fans. That is in fact a great way to honor their service - give the kid a chance to see a game and maybe get on TV in his dress whites. And if you can't get into the Jags - Colts game (and granted, not the most compelling game) then donate those tickets to charity and take a write off for some part of the cost - maybe $250 but at least face value on the NFL ticket).
If you go to the BET you have probably paid $200 for a ticket that is available every year. Stop bitching about this and either get on board or not, pun intended. This is not a big deal and, at least for those of us in the NY market, those ticket prices are fairly mundane considering all your getting. The fact that you don't "want" all of it is something you need to reign in an just embrace.

you're right kg, those fine sailors should get nothing for letting us use their weapon to play our game on, or for being weapons for us themselves. shocked to see you taking the selfish view, shocked!

Isn't the carrier and the naval facility already paid for by the taxpayers and isn't ESPN payung someone for the broadcast rights? The AD should have never done this deal.

These games are for national exposure, and also something (relatively) unique for the players and the program. I don't think there were too many UNC or Mich. State fans on the carrier last year, unless they paid big, big bucks for one of the limited number of seats.
