Wow. What a waste. Transfer for your last year of eligibility. That makes zero sense. Maybe Drummond is staying for another year or he just sees the storm clouds being too dark.

If Uconn is not able to play in the NCAA tournament, which should be the case he can play right away. Makes perfect sense.

And if he's subpar academically (I have no idea if he is or isn't, but he's now on a five year plan so I'm immediately suspicious), he hurts their sucky APR even more. Please transfer Alex! Jim Calhoun never loved you!

Makes perfect sense as someone stated, He will be able to play immediately wherever he goes if UConn stays ineligible for the tourney which it appears they will. Probably will go to a B10 school.

Gilvydas Biruta, who was all-freshman last year, also transferring out of Rutgers. Seemed like they might be a team poised for a breakout next year, but this will slow them some.
Figuring we can use this as a catch-all thread for relevant transfers *shrug*

I would think if he transfers within the conference he would still have to sit out a year. Also, pass anyways. Head case

Wow, the tweet cited in that article is pretty damning. And Alex taking his 3.6 GPA with him can't help Fagan.

Wow, the tweet cited in that article is pretty damning. And Alex taking his 3.6 GPA with him can't help Fagan. The senior Oriakhi is reportedly a frequent critic of Huskies coach Jim Calhoun. An inflammatory post on his Twitter account appeared after he announced his son's decision. "To coaches out there with slave master mentality, ur days are over," the post said. "Bully only leads to resentments. Bb is a fun game not a mental hospital.” Yikes….

I felt bad about how he got pushed to the side with Drummond's arrival this season. Oriakhi did a ton for the championship team. I think he really did get a raw deal this season.

One article that I read stated that Big East rules would prevent Oriakhi from transferring to another Big East team, so a transfer within the Big East might not even be a possibility.

Oriakhi got screwed over this year with Drummond. I do not blame him for wanting out of that situation and wanting an opportunity to play in the NCAAs and not for a coach that basically treated him like trash thsi season because he had the shiny new freshman. UConn is teetering on the edge right now and Oriakhi's 3.6 gpa he will take with him will not help that graduation rate. All I can hope is that Cuse follows the same path.

Can we just move these posts until the "Oriakhi is transferring" thread? 0% chance he comes here.
BUT most schools have a requirement that you have to take a certain number of credits AT the university to graduate with that university's degree. I believe at GTown its 2 years worth of credits. Can't imagine other reputable schools have anything less than that. Key word being reputable. It will be interesting to see who ends up taking him.

That's true Lizziebeth. I wonder if he would finish his last year of college elsewhere, but still get his degree from Connecticut?
