Is Western KY the first team with a losing record to get a win in the tournament? There is probably another since the play-in, but it can't have happened much.
In 1995, Florida International made it in with an 11-18 record. I think they were the first.
They got pasted by eventual champion UCLA in the first round.

Machado went to my HS his freshman year. Coach of Iona Tim Cluess coached at my HS for about 15 years. Very good coach. Won various NY state championships. I was hoping that we did not have to play Iona first game.
Yea you are right POD. That does come off a bit cocky on reread. It was a good game. Two sorry teams though. I stand by that.
Oh and WKU made the play in by being two games under 500. You mean to tell me that Pitt at 17-16 isnt better than them or more deserving?
WKU was the 7 seed in the Sun Belt conference tournament and pulled the upsets. It happens. The regular season Sun Belt champion Middle Tennessee State is 26-6 but they are in the NIT because they were upset in their tournament.
And no, Pitt does not deserve anything after its failure of a season. Pitt is in the CBI where they belong.
Ugh, this game is reminding me of everything I hate about the NCAA tournament. Mid-majors, super fast midget guards, teams going unconscious from three, second half collapses, and NCAA Tournament officiating. Needless to say, I'm super excited for Friday.
Apparently, to these refs the only requirement for a charge is for the defender to fall down. Why even have a ref?
"The ball should move, bodies should move. You talk about being an undisciplined, unselfish group. That's what you do. If the ball's sticking, great defensive teams are going to load up. If you don't move the ball and [be] unselfish, it's gonna be long nights, so you better learn to move the ball, share, and play with a sense of urgency on every possession. Our teams will always be unselfish, our teams will always be physical, and our teams will always do our best to defend."

Why is this playing on truTV and not a more largely distributed network? I can't believe I am stuck with NIT games when the first four have started off with a bang.

So that people like yourself will demand their cable provider carry TruTV.
