I think we're on the same side MCI. I might have misread your statement. Nope. ;D My mistake. I meant to write "Robinson" in my previous post when discussing the caliber of players he has to face off against on a more regular basis. Also let me add...the SEC is bad. Not Pac-12 bad, but bad nonetheless. Robinson deserves it more because he has better numbers while playing in a much better conference, his Kansas team is a pleasant surprise because it wasn't expected to be a top five squad (Kentucky was however because it is loaded with first round picks) ,and his being an upperclassmen who waited patiently before he got a chance to start is what college basketball is supposed to be about according to all the college hoops purists out there. Plus his story regarding what happened to his family last year would make his being picked all the more rewarding to all of us. Davis will be rewarded with the #1 pick in the draft and that should be good enough for him. Ooops. Thread is being hijacked. Congrats again to Jason and Henry. Sorry about Otto. Return for another season, Hollis, and make First Team.

Congrats to Jason and Henry. Awesome work, and thanks for representing the University so well.
Congrats to Otto, as well, on an oustanding season. He and anyone who even remotely follows college basketball knows that he should be on that all-rookie team.

Davis is a better player than Robinson....sorry, he effects the game way more than Robinson does....he's been phenomenal this season Alonzo affected the game more than any other player when he was freshman too. And Gtown spent time at or near the top of the rankings for that entire season. But rightfully he wasn't chosen as player of the year. He wasn't even the player of the year on his own team and he was much better than Davis. Hell, Davis doesn't even impact the game as much as Greg Oden did either. Can we slow down the hype on this kid? Granted he has the most potential (along with Drummond) but that doesn't make him Player of the Year. Kentucky is still a top ten team without Davis because they have four to five other guys who are projected to be first round picks in eventual NBA drafts. Take Robinson off of Kansas and the Jayhawks remain respectable but would have difficulty staying in the Top 25. Period.

I completely disagree....
Davis is making teams not be able to run an offense. He's been better and more versatile offensively than Oden ever was.....14 points, 10 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game....A full block per game more than Oden as a freshman....More rebounds per game than Oden as a freshman...More points and rebounds than Alonzo did as a freshman, and almost as much as the five blocks per game...
This kid's freshman season ranks up there with the greats. Without him, Kentucky is very, very beatable....I don't see how he's NOT the player of the year

I'll take Otto over Behanan, w/o a doubt. Behanan does OReb well, but so does Otto, and Otto scores off his O Rebounds.

You people are short-selling Otto. Even if you count Jerian Grant, which is ridiculous, Otto, Henton and Harrison were clearly the most effective freshmen. Porter should have been on there before Drummond, Benahan, Collins and Harkless. HP Link

I would take Otto over anyone besides Harkless, based on play this year. I think Otto is a better all-around player than Harkless, but Harkless was really the star of that St. Johns team this year

Drummond should not be on the all-rookie team simply because he's athletically talented enough to have put up numbers worthy of the BE first team but he coasted through the season.

Man, I want to give kudos to Hoya Prospectus for that great write-up comparing Otto to the other frosh. Next year, when Otto has an even larger role, we'll see him blossom compared to the other "top" freshmen. I fully expect Otto to have a 20-20 game next season. That, and see him get 1st team All-Big East as we again contend for the BE title.

Porter should have been on there before Drummond, Benahan, Collins and Harkless. HP LinkI am surprised that so many Hoya fans have been taken by surprise about this. There was always a good chance he was going to be excluded from the All Freshmen team simply because there were other frosh (even if they were inferior) putting up better or as good numbers...and they were starting. With 20 million Big East teams it may have been a little tough for the people voting to keep up with what Otto was doing. But no worry. They'll know his name soon enough

Drummond should not be on the all-rookie team simply because he's athletically talented enough to have put up numbers worthy of the BE first team but he coasted through the season. You may have a point but considering the hype that he came in with you just knew he wasn't going to be ignored.

Pretty emabarassing for Big East coaches to see that the biggest college basketball media outlet chose Otto as Freshman of the Year and they did not even have him on the 7 member team. I have no idea what the coaches were thinking, it should not have been just about the numbers. The only freshman that is better than Otto right now is Harkless. The rest are either a result of playing on awful teams or hype. Congratulations to Jason Clark!!!! I am really excited for him to be named to the 1st Team. That is a great honor in a 16 team conference, he has done it all this year and has taken the team on his back several times. Did anyone see Henry making an all-BE team this past summer? Tremendous accomplishment for another senior that clearly dedicated himself to being the best he could be this season for the Hoyas. Cannot say enough about the seniors - they are outstanding Hoyas!

Considering Otto will be first team next year, I doubt he'll remember this slight.
