Our offense is anemic. But good job on the defensive end again today.

Make no mistake, this is a rivalry and SJU came to play hard from the opening whistle. Nate's play kept Sims on the bench in the final 10 minutes and I was fine with it. It was clear the way SJU was scrapping and the way the refs were calling it, we needed our most unflappable players, therefore Henry and Hollis sit.

Our offense is anemic. But good job on the defensive end again today. Our defense SUCKED today. I thought our offense was much improved from the last ten or so games actually. We were lost defensively though. Over playing the 3 and not helping on drives. It's like we didn't have a scouting report on St Johns.

Stat stuffer for Nate. 7 pts, 7 rebounds, 5 dimes, 4 blks. Nice all around game. Bench points, 23-2, us. Only 8 TO's.

Positives: Nate Greg A win.
Negatives: Enough to keep III busy before Saturday.

Our offense was anything but anemic. St. John's played out of its mind offensively, and we stepped up. We would've lost this game in the last two seasons, so I'm actually pretty impressed by this win. We executed whenever the game was one possession. That was huge, not letting St. John's take a lead.....

Our offense is anemic. But good job on the defensive end again today. I wouldnt call 71 points with 5 double digit scorers (henry with 9) anemic. Plus we shot 49 percent from the field. Our only poor showing today was the three point line and even that was 32 percent...

It was the overall lack of cohesion defensively that had been there all season and inability to guard against dribble penetration against a bad 3 point shooting team. There were a lot of serious lapses and periods of horrible defense in that game. I'm not sure if it was an effort problem or a focus problem or just a lack of general awareness out there, but overall I thought the defense was pretty bad. And by bad I should say bad compared to where it needs to be in order for us to be a good to great team.

My biggest complaint is that they didn't play smart. SJU has a short bench -- we should have been drawing the fouls, rather than fouling them on just about every other possession. That, and some bad shot selection.
Other than that, the guys played hard and they pulled out a tough win against a team that may not be great but played a very scrappy game. Props to SJU for hanging in there.
On to the next...

I am going to start criticizing Starks during the halftime of every game. Great to see the kid's confidence still high and his strong play in the last ten minutes.

Not quite sure why Lubick was on the floor in the last 2 minutes or so when we are going to be taking foul shots.

Well it didn't seem to make a difference because Hollis went 1-2, Otto went 1-2, Nate always goes 1-2, he was playing well, rebounding well, I say let him play, he earned it.
