The team doesn't seem done with Jeff and the brief videos in the tweets from the event the other night don't seem to show a player whose teammates have had enough.

The thing with Jeff is to get those type numbers he needs to be handling the ball at the top and the floor spread. Give him that he would score 30 a night but no coach will let him run the offense as the PG in that manner forever. You can tell he is most comfortable scoring on his own and picking spots then come off screens or just positng up.

The Grizzlies local media are going to miss Jeff Green when he is gone next year. Putting the ball in his hands has been as a primary ball handler has been a huge adjustment.

Jeff might be the only player to score 20+ off the bench four games in a row this year.

ESPN is ranking the top 100 players of all time. Iverson is ranked #46, but somehow Chris Paul is ranked #29. Ha! Players 46-50

From ESPN:
GETTING THE GREEN LIGHT OFF THE BENCH Jeff Green has led the Grizzlies in scoring in four consecutive games as a reserve, with 24 points in their 110-95 win over the Pelicans on Monday night. According to Elias Sports Bureau, that was last done in the NBA in January 1995 by the Suns' "Thunder Dan" Majerle.

ESPN is ranking the top 100 players of all time. Iverson is ranked #46, but somehow Chris Paul is ranked #29. Ha! Players 46-50A.I. is probably the most underrated and over criticized player of the last 20 years. Kind of like what Cam Newton is going through this week leading into the Super Bowl. I preface my comments by first saying I'm not a Carolina Panthers or Cam Newton fan. I'm a NY GIANTS fan thru and through, but the narrative has been all week the big and bad Cam Newton is everything that's wrong in sports playing in the Super Bowl. Much like Cam has said over and over again to the media during this season and playoffs "I am who I am and I'm not going to change for anybody. That's includes my celebrations and how I play the game....People are afraid of me beca they have never seen anything like me" (I'm paraphrasing of course). If my memory is correct I feel like Allen Iverson was saying some of the same things when he was under the same types criticisms 15 or so years ago because of his braided hair and love of the hip hop culture. There is is no way that Iverson should be #46 if Chris Paul who's a direct opposite in terms of media/marketing darling and clean cut persona is #29. This is coming from someone who really enjoys watching Chris Paul play and it if I was a fan of an NBA team, it would be the Clippers. Allen Iverson is that low because people can't separate what he did on the court from how they personally feel about everything else regarding him from hair style to clothes and lifestyle. If they take what he accomplished on the court and how changed the game only, IMO A.I. is a top 25 player.

Hate to hijack the thread but wanted to ask because I honestly have not been following -- is there that much criticism of Newton? By whom? Is it just because of his TD celebrations or am I missing something? I like the guy.

I think Iverson suffers from the fact that the game has changed so radically, and his volume shooting is looked at as more of a negative now than it was in context. Larry Brown constructed his team in ways that would be insane by today's standards (e.g., no accomplished offensive player outside of Iverson, no decent 3 point shooter with, I guess, the exception of Toni Kukoc). Given that construct, it was beneficial for Iverson to have the usage rate he did (just looked this up, 35.9%!), which basically by definition would require bad shots. Looked at through the lens of today's NBA, I can see how he would seem overrated, but I think that shortchanges just how good he had to be on a daily basis for the Sixers to be as good as they were.

*Iverson would be unstoppable with the handcheck rules. Unstoppable. *I enjoy Cam Newton's celebrations, but the dude is super cocky, so he should kind of expect the backlash. *He's been on a hot tear, but Newton is overrated because of team success. *Chris Paul is one of my least favorite NBA players and somewhat the opposite of Iverson. He whines and bitches about every call. And he's still the same dude who punched a guy in the nads. Between him and Griffin, the Clippers are unbearable in terms of the whining factor. EVERY DAMN PLAY.

Is next year the last one in Otto's rookie deal? Would like to see him move on if Leonsis can't get over his Grunfeld/Wittman crush. The Wizards aren't going anywhere with the current arrangement -- Wall doesn't guard anybody and shoots too much, Beal can't stay healthy, and the big guys have hit their ceiling and move like Stonehenge. And I can't believe Randy's constant finger pointing at the players has helped him in the locker room.
