I don't think improved that much in his time at Towson. He stepped down in competition so naturally his stats improved. In his defense Professor, he played a point forward at Towson so his usage went up in comparison to his time at Gtown.

And like Turner got some time in the NBA. Part of the small forward black hole years of Bell, Tate-Venson and Tucker... Not to mention Mike Sabol or Derrick Patterson...

Kelly is somewhat underrated. He played hard and earned his minutes which was never easy for a transfer into Thompson's system. The story of his recruitment was remarkable-- he recruited Georgetown more so than Georgetown recruited him, and it worked.

I was not posting at the time (still hadn't figured out this internet thing), but Benimon did not look like a legit Big East contributor when he was here. He was an undersized, average athlete with a decent handle and passing skills. He did seem to have a nose for the ball. He obviously went to Towson and remade himself, both physically and skillwise. Benimon always reminded me of a less athletic, slightly more skilled, John Turner, who played alongside Alonzo for a year before transferring to a small school and playing in the league for a year or two. Any old timers remember him?? Benimon learned to shoot and stopped turning over the ball so much. It's a great testament to him and the staff at Towson. Perhaps it would have happened at GU; perhaps not. He could always rebound, defend and always had a great motor. I'm still kind of surprised he made the NBA -- he always had the tools, I suppose, if not great height. But while he carried Towson, he wasn't unbelievable or anything. Good for him. Your memory fools you, he couldn't always rebound. That was the most frustrating thing about him, he was a defense and rebounding specialist who didn't rebound. His DR% as a sophomore in over 25% of the minutes was 11.8%, DSR's this year was 11.5%. By the time he graduated he was up to 25.0%, 35th in the country. I definitely said at the time that he wasn't a Big East player when he was here, and I still agree with that. I'll stick with you and be ambivalent about whether or not his development would have happened here, but it certainly wasn't guaranteed. Definitely a testament to him and the Towson staff that the same guy who played here for two years was able to get a 10-day contract.

I left those two out because neither came with the hype of the other three. Equally devoid of meaningful contributions just not nearly the disappointments.

Interesting. Thanks Dan, I was wondering why Jeff was not in the starting lineup. Now what happened to Greg; is he injured?

Nil-Nil draw between Hoyas in the Pacers-Wizards game: Roy 0-6 for the big nagel, Otto listed as playing 0 minutes and scoring 0 points(2 other guys listed as DNP, don't know the difference).

On the halftime show of today's Wiz-Rockets game Jalen Rose wondered why you would draft Otto Porter in the first round and then have him not even see the floor in a game like today that is so important to them in terms of playoff seeding where his team is so completely lacking in intensity and effort. He specifically called out Pierce and Butler as "spot" players wondering about what the Wizards were doing with team development.
If the Wiz insist on continuing to hitch their wagon to Wittman, Otto has to get out of DC.

Why this guy continues to get head coaching gigs is a mystery.
