All I know is I've never paid this much attention to GU hoops in August before! It reminds me of all the work I don't get done thanks to the Hoyas during the winter months!

video not great; at :32 is that a hoya flinging a chair? Looks like Starks - but to put in context, it looks like he's actually whipping a seat cover back into the fray AFTER a chinese guy had tried to body slam one of our guys with the chair, WWE style, and it bounced over to him. These Chinese bastards are animals. |

People arent disagreeing with you. It's just that you are wrong. If 15 people jumped your teammate, are you saying it is stooping to their level to run and protect your teammates? Should III, the team and the coaches have sat there and let it play itself out? You know when opposing baseball teams spill out onto a diamond during heated moments you often get some jostling, a bit of pushing, a lot of pointing and even more stare downs. Most times it doesn’t result in punches and when it does teams with cooler heads try to pull apart the people engaged in the fighting rather than escalating it by throwing their own fists. If Jason is being mobbed by the other team and nothing is being done by it by officials then I can understand the Hoyas rushing to a teammate’s aid. But let’s not have separate mini-brawls break out as a result. Get between your teammate and the other team (push them away if you have to) and wait for your coaches to direct you on what you should do next (like heading to the exit). Try not to make a bad situation any worse especially in front of a crowd that is potentially hostile (and harmful) to you. That’s my take. If anything save the brawling for the Notre Dames or the Pitts or the UConns that push the team around during the BE season. But to take part in something like that during a goodwill trip to another country, even if you are the ones who were attacked first, is not good for the reputation of the program. It just isn’t. And despite the folks crowing on these boards that this was an encouraging sign for Hoya toughness and solidarity, I’m not sure if this dustup proves anything. Again I will wait and see if this toughness shows itself when the Hoyas play the Panthers. I appreciate your level headed response, but I still think you are trying to hard to defend your initial position. I think it's pretty clear after the video came out that we acted in a very Georgetown-like manner. We immediately defended our teammates, and when defending was over, JTIII told the guys to get off the court, and they did so. |

Is it too much to ask that someone photoshop JTIII into the Tienanmen square photo of the dude in front of the tanks? We're 13 pages into this and it hasn't happened yet? Unbelievable. My photoshop skills are terrible, but I feel bad that I can't even come up with a good Kurt Shirt theme. Perhaps some PE? III It Takes a Nations of Billions To Hold Us Back (And yes, I'm only joking because it seems no one -- miraculously -- was hurt.) I nominate: "Big Trouble in Little China" or to be more obscure, how bout just a quote from that movie (doesn't hurt that the main character is named Jack): "Have ya paid your dues, Jack? I might be wrong, but my best guess is that the Chinese response will surprise a lot of the posters here. +1 on this post. The Chinese leadership has to be extremely embarrassed by this incident. Georgetown has very good relations with leaders in the Chinese government. Just look at the VIP attendance at the first game. That a bunch of thugs would go at our players causes our hosts to lose considerable face. There's nothing they can defend here. I would expect an apology to be forthcoming |

Also, if you search for coverage of the event in Chinese on Baidu (local search engine), many of the links are conspicuously broken. Articles were there at some point, but it seems like the government is trying to mellow out the situation. |

In the video, Clark is clearly knocked to the floor at the start of the brawl, and then at the end the other players appear to be helping him back up off the floor (around the :55 mark). And then the players exit the floor
So when was the photo that first circulated this AM taken? It looked like it showed Jason exchanging punches with one of these Chinese losers while standing up. Did another scuffle break out after this video ends?

I'm just now taking this all in, and I have read most of the recaps. First off, it sounds like we were clearly the better team. Even after they jumped out to a lead and then got what sounds like absurd home cooking, we maintained the lead, even to the point where we had a 2 point lead after the benches cleared. They were then awarded 2 free throws, which they made I presume, ending the game in an official tie? I guess I have no problem with that.
Far more importantly, I haven't heard of any player on either team being injured. I'm sure there are some bruises and scrapes here and there, but nothing worth writing about. That is a good thing.
Thirdly, does anyone know what kind of jurisdiction the NCAA might have? I know this isn't an NCAA event, but since the Hoyas are an NCAA team and an NCAA program, could the team face some kind of sanctions? Certainly don't want any of the guys sitting out important games. And with the out of conference schedule we've got, they get here pretty quickly.
As for playing the next game, I think they should. We all know that there will be a very quick whistle for both teams. As someone else mentioned, CHina doesn't want worldwide coverage of refs on the take and we should be able to count on all eyes watching the game, if it does take place.

I believe thats the scene portrayed in the photo. |

The video also clearly shows JT3 running into the melee to break it up. I didn't catch that as clearly from the video at first glance on the Internet.
