The President is expected to speak shortly from the WH. CBS is reporting that it will relate to the hunt for Bin Laden. Let's hope for good news for our troops and country and a job well done in the continued War on Terror.
On Edit: Now confirmed that Osama Bin Laden is dead. We live in a great country with the right strategy in Afghanistan.

News now saying that it was an 8 month long CIA investigation with the operation executed by Navy Seals.

Either CNN pulled John King out of a bar next to the studio, or he had just taken his nightly Ambien before being called in to work. Either way, watching him slur his way through things is oddly memorizing in a train wreck sort of way. I think he mentioned 9-11 at a higher rate than even Giuliani.

Some commentator mentioned that it is 8 years to the day that GWB declared "Mission Accomplished." Some commentators have also pointed out that Obama should release the long form death certificate. At some point, it probably becomes unsportsmanlike to point out the epicness of the fail even if it is historically accurate timing. I am now working with the assumption that folks realize that the Obama Administration is not soft on terrorism, despite the tired political arguments to the contrary. |

Unfortunately, facts don't often sway those who will believe what they choose to believe. They cannot overcome their cognitive dissonance when the facts don't comport with their "reality." I have no doubt there will be a segment within the U.S. who will not believe UBL is really dead, just as there are those who do not believe that the President was born in Hawaii.

I'm shocked they even kept a lid on the news for most of the day/night, let alone six months. It speaks to the quality of our service members, it seems, although I am sure there are protections in place on that front.

The OPSEC on this makes could lead to speculation that all the statements that UBL was probably hiding somewhere in the mountainous regions of Afghanistan was perhaps intentionally misleading (disinformation).

Operation occurred at ~3:30pm EST. Body recovered. DNA test performed to ensure match. News released to public circa 10pm EST.
