Nice stat line for Greg W.. esp when JT jr and JTIII are on hand. From what I understand , if they win the next two games it would be against solid comp. Many locals feel the HYPE is well deserved and this kid will be solid on the next level. He will develope physically and mentally and learn the game. Speed and Defense will come.

Talent is obviously there with Whittington--and he's shown well in the time he faced big time competition--hasn't played much organized ball and throws up numbers--albeit against lesser competition-but isn't that only an issue if you aren't dominating? I mean--if you are supposed to be best player on court-and repeatedly put up those numbers/team wins games--that is what you are supposed to do correct?

He is better than Benny. Benny although a hard worker should be at Coppin State under Fang Mitchell.

Benimon was a 6'6 PF that nobody had ever heard of or seen, though.
This kid projects to be a 6'9 SF that has interest from some top programs.

I like Porter better though (even though our chances are slim on that front). Whittington has better handles and a better shot than Benny. Needs to hit the weights hard. He won't contribute his freshman year.

Even detractors of Whittington would tell you he's better then Benimon. Whittington is a legit 6'9 already--and skilled--he can dribble/pass/shoot. Benimon is barely 6'6 and can foul, turn the ball over, can't catch, and.......pulls a reverse layup out of his magic hat once every 10 games.

Yeah we're recruiting two guys from areas without great competition, Porter and Whittington. The difference between those guys and Jerrelle is that with Jerrelle, there wasn't interest from KU and Mizzou (in Porter's case) or Texas (in Whittington's case). Especially in Whittington's case--I feel like teams don't recruit cross country unless there's a reason to.

The two things that I like the most are: He is a legit 6'9 and he can stroke it. He'll get stronger and III can teach everything else.

Oakland Mills win 55-42 over Douglass...apparently Whittington found himself in early foul trouble but warmed up after halftime

right back at it tonight.. Wasn't he just watching Porter? Racking up the frequent flyer miles and putting Gary Williams to shame. One of the most underrated things about III is his work ethic when it comes to recruiting.

Say what you want about him, but you can never question Coach Thompson's work ethic. It's reassuring that above all, he understands that you can't play the background and have your assistants do all of the heavy lifting in recruiting.
Hope all of the hard work pays off with a commitment.

Whittington Highlights from last night w/ a quick view of a Legend This is funny. If he were 7'4" he'd have the same height advantage in the Big East that he had in that game.

I hear you , but he will not be a C or PF on the next level. He clearly stated this himself. What I do know is he has a sweet stroke and plays with alot of emotion and fire. Also , he seems to be able to knock down that foul-line/elbow jumper with ease and create off the dribble as well.

I am worried about the passion/effort thing kruk, but if you say he plays with fire; I'll take your word for it. From the little I've seen, it looks like he is motivated when he is challenged and somewhat taken aback by all of the sudden attention. Almost as if he was coasting along in HS then all of a sudden....bam! Maybe he's just laid back. I'm thinking Brandon Bowman skill set.

He'd be in the NBA if he had 4 years of coaching from JTIII. Multi-talented and a legit 6'9" also. Really a shame for him and Ashanti - they were two good and talented kids in a bad situation. But they did get a nice senior year at least.
