don't believe there is a thread on him, probably should be. (comparatively speaking to others) #54 on Scout #29 on Rivals #67 on ESPN Long, athletic lefty from Mississippi that is transitioning out to the wing. has been listed at 6'7, but recent scout update put him at 6'8 and 1/2 having a very strong season, this past week played former target Johnny O'Bryant and went for 30 and 10 in a loss. The last update on his stats this year (2 weeks ago) had a line of: 27 points, 13 rebounds and 6.5 blocks per game. Was at Midnight Madness. from that recent scout update..

I need to see his footage but he fits the measurable of the types we need around here....if he is indeed a wing player.

Gare and Pollard would be an awesome couple if they're really considering a packaged deal. Given our limited number of scholarships and other targets, I don't think we have space.

if things stood as they were (no transfers) I'd take both of them. I think everyone would jump at the chance to land Anderson/Ochefu, what would not be to like about these 2 instead? I know, not as highly thought of, but still..
guess it depends on how comfortable you'd be playing the 2012-2013 season with Starks/Sanford/Bowen/Trawick as your guards. But that amount of size coming in, could push Hollis all the way to the 2 for his senior year.
If a scholarship did open up (which we don't want to see) I think it'd be a safe bet it'd be used on a guard anyway.
Also, while guard would seem to be a priority, if Robinson is not up to par, what else is out there? It's a weak class of guards to start with in 2012, and I don't believe we've been mentioned with too many.

also forgot to say: according to a southern H.S. reporter tweet, Kirby was in attendance for his game Monday (against JOB). The Mississippi High Schools apparently have an MLK Day Tournament.
Tyler was also in action. Had 7 points in a loss.

Plenty of time for all of it (Otto, transfers if any, etc...) to shake out and what's looking like various options for few scholarships...
A couple of top '12 guards, other than Robinson, listing us according to ESPN: #8 (#1 PG) LJ Rose (6'3") - Kansas, UCon, Duke, UNC and GU #28 (#7 SG) DVR (6'4") - Indiana, GU, Florida, OSU, Louisville
Oh, and Carmelo!

There's Smith-Rivera, who's opened back up, but he's more of a combo; albeit a powerful one at that.

yes, DSR. forgot about him. He and Robinson. Rose isn't or won't be an option.

Hoyas have offered Rasheed from Texas too. 6'3 SG, who supposedly can stroke it.

I have no interest in recruiting that orangeman.

Pollard has to be one of the most interesting recruits on the board right now for us. Hoyatalk has done it's annual "fall deeply in love with recruit(s)" routine, this year with Kyle Anderson and Ochefu (understandably). That said, Pollard and Ware are Top 100 recruits who we may ultimately have a better shot at, and at least in the case of Pollard, who may have higher ceilings. There's tantalizingly little video out there on these MS kids (Pollard, Ware, Twymon) but the scouts seem to like them all.
I also like the fact that he's having a good year. Sounds weird but when was the last time we had a recruit who seemed to be an up-and-comer who was putting up numbers that were as good as or better than his rankings? Feels like a lot of recent recruits have been statistically underwhelming for the most part since their commitment, including all 3 guys in the class of 2011 and Bolden in 2012.

If that Carmelo kid or James Robinson are Hoyas--Georgetown is in trouble. That isn't the caliber of guard this program needs moving forward.

How come people have soured so quickly on Robinson? I thought over the summer people were really high on him.

mississippistate.scout.com/2/1040938.htmlDevonta Pollard, PF, Kemper County - Devonta had a good showing against the East Side Trojans. The 6’7 athletic forward logged in a couple monster dunks and was a beast on the boards in his battle against Johnny O’Bryant. Pollard has improved in knocking down the 15 footer where he showed he can hit it from both sides of the floor. He also looked to be more comfortable stepping out and shooting the three. The final stats tallied to be a game high 30 points on 11 of 22 shooting, 1 of 3 behind the arc, grabbed 10 rebounds, one block, and three steals. Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, Georgetown, Auburn, and Alabama are on his early list.

RB, Trawick seemingly came outta nowhere to be ranked top 100. Cemented his rep over the summer. Everywhere I've seen calls him "philly tough".

How come people have soured so quickly on Robinson? I thought over the summer people were really high on him. Bigger sample size. More you see a guy--you can see what was/is real and what was surprising. In his case--he was in better physical shape this past Summer, surrounded by better players, and more importantly in his best game he wasn't playing anyone at his position that was a major/high caliber player. The other night--he did--and was over his head. He was awful on both ends--didn't care to get his teammates involved, didn't defend--more importantly couldn't defend--he was too slow, his size isn't great enough to cover that up and he's not a great shooter--so the areas that make you overlook a lack of footspeed were deficient.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Robinson was expected to take a leap with Quinn Cook gone and he hasn't. I could overlook the deficiencies in his game if he was a great shooter but he's not. Still has another year to step his game up but as of right now, I'd pass.

I don't get out to a lot of HS/AAU stuff but I try to see the local guys that the Hoyas are thought to be involved with. I'm all about them keeping all of the local guards at home but I don't see Robinson as a lock to be a high major at all right now.
