Sadly, Justified is ending after this season. Actually, unless there has been some news lately, I'm pretty sure it's been renewed for a sixth season. That, however, will be the last season. All in all, that's a pretty good run.

Are we Alan Sepinwalls or Andy Greenwalds when it comes to True Detective?
I'm closer to Sepinwall but wasn't a huge fan of the finale.

It's not that the finale was bad, just that it didn't achieve the same heights as some of the previous episodes. I imagine the most disappointed people are those who really though we were going to get some kind of supernatural twist - I never thought that was in the cards, but I did hope for something a bit less conventional. I like Greenwald, and heard all of his explanations, but I can't agree with his criticism of TD.

While I don't think there should have been real supernatural aspects, I thought the finale was kind of "small."

While I don't think there should have been real supernatural aspects, I thought the finale was kind of "small." This was my issue too. We didn't need to throw everyone involved in the Yellow King's scheme in jail -- I agree that we don't 'live in that type of world' or however the characters put it -- but I at least wanted to get a few more answers as a viewer.

Seeing as how last night -- oh, around 11:30 -- freed up several hours of TV viewing for me this weekend (@#$%^&*!@#$%^), I am hoping to watch this series finally.

I haven't watched TD yet, but it's on the list. Anyone watching The Americans this season? Thought that one was good last yr.

Just finished season one of Justified. Season four was my first, and it got me hooked. As good as that one was, season one I found to be even better. That whole Boyd-religion thing had me going, since his character is so different in four. Probably would not have watched Justified if it weren't for the board.

"What the Edited is a Lommy?"
God, I am glad this show is back!
Between this, Veep and the very promising looking Silicon Valley, that is one seriously solid two-hour block HBO has going for it on Sunday nights.

That was a "Meh..." ending if there ever was one.
I know they're just setting up for the Justified final season fireworks, but overall, the season was pretty flat.
Lots of good individual moments, but nothing like previous seasons in terms of overall story arc.
Darryl Crowe Jr., I knew Mags Bennett. I watched Mags Bennett. You, sir, are no Mags Bennett.
(I would, however, watch your sister all day long and twice on Sunday.)
Also, this show is always better when Nick Searcy is in it more. His absence from much of this show, even before he got shot, was palpable.

He was the only truly menacing member of the Crowe crew. But, then again, it was pretty clear that this year was about setting up Boyd v. Raylan next year. Cannot wait.

I thought it was good. I clearly thought they were going to twist it on us - I bought in hook, line, and sinker to Stephen Root's speech that this is a bullet that can't be unfired.
It clearly wasn't anywhere close to Mags Bennett 2 mason jars of moonshine good, but when "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" came on during the bridge scene, I wanted more (btw I don't think that's the best version of the song they've used, but it fit the scene really well).
Mary Steenburgen seems like she's going to be a good addition. Very glad they are done with the women's prison stuff, that was one of the subplots that I don't think worked much at all.

Yeah, I think next season is going to be great. And who knew Mary Steenburgen could pull off "sinister"? Not me, that's for sure. But I think she's nailed pretty much every scene she's been in. I particularly liked her little smirk when Boyd was talking about how it was her husband who was in charge. I'm pretty sure USADA Vasquez knows better.
Ava in prison never worked for one second. Ava as CI to the U.S. Marshalls? Yes, I think that will work.
I really will miss Alicia Witt though. I thought she was one of the best parts about this season. And not just because of my famous penchant for gingers.
Who knows? Maybe she's not totally done yet...
