Jonathan Wallace is with Bayern Munich and led the team with 23 points in their first game, a 97-69 win over Heidelberg. It's not the NBA, but it's also not McAllen, Texas where JW spent last season in the d-League. Bayern is in the German 2nd division but they hired the German national team coach and committed to spend the money to win promotion to the Bundesliga and to be a European League team in a few years. www.basketball.fcbayern.de/index.php#www.basketball.fcbayern.de/herren1.html

Jessie Sapp signed with Pezinok in Slovakia. They are the defending Slovakian league champions and probably pay better than Glasgow. www.basketpk.sk/?iid=player&playerId=156Pezinok won their first game 9/25 with a 93-69 blowout over Prievidza. Jessie scored 2 points but also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals. (I think that is what the boxscore says: the 5 is where I would expect rebounds to be). www.basketpk.sk/?iid=match&matchId=398

Re: the Wallace article above, I used Google Translate to do a quick read, and here are some highlights:
MUNICH Jonathan Wallace has seen games in the NBA and NHL, in college he has played before 23 000 spectators. He knows great scenes and passionate fans. "But what I experienced when I got my first football match of Bayern saw was unique," says Wallace. "When the players ran onto the pitch, I could not help but jump up and cheer as."
A few months ago, Wallace (24) still played in the U.S. in the summer league in the NBA, now he is in Germany's second tier for Bayern on - and is enthusiastic: "FC Bayern blew me away!"
In George Town, the oldest Catholic university in the United States, Wallace has studied law and played basketball. There, they are very proud of their identity and their athletes. "At Bayern I also feel this pride, the players and the fans," says Wallace. ...
While other U.S. basketball players after a shower you about pulling the XXL sweater and the gold chains, preferably Wallace the serious look, "in George Town, we have before and after the games even worn suits." Even off the field he prefers to remain inconspicuous. Parties and evenings in clubs? "I rest me from dear," says Wallace, "read a book about law or talk on Skype with my friends." Which he has gained as a successful college basketball a lot. Mike Green, star defender Washington Capitals NHL club is one of them and Jeff Green, NBA size of Oklahoma City Thunder. "He is my best friend," says Wallace, "we talk almost every day together." On 26 October starts the NBA season, Wallace looks back with joy and their sadness at the same time meet. Joy, because he expresses his buddy the thumb, melancholy, because he himself would have liked it.
This past season he won as player development of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the current champion of the NBA Development League. "I think that I have what it takes for the NBA," Wallace says, "but apparently has no team needed a player like me."....

Gotta love literal translations. He expresses his buddy the thumb? After a shower you about pulling the XXL sweater and gold chains? Yep, I'm sure that's exactly what JWall said.

Yep, I'm sure that's exactly what JWall said. lic, care to translate? ;D In German, the expression "Daumen druecken", which literally translates to "pressing one's thumbs", is the equivalent of the American phrase "crossing one's fingers". So, he has his fingers crossed that Jeff does well. If I have some more time later, I'll do a more accurate translation of the entire piece.

Thanks for the updates, these are cool.
I love how the Bayern article mentioned Gtown was Catholic- that's no accident- Munich is the Catholic heart of Germany.

From now on I insist that instead of saying "give the thumbs up" we instead talking about how we are "giving our buddy the thumb." No wait, forget it, too much room for further misinterpretation.
Anyone know how Jon and Mike Green became friends?
