Has Hoyas in his top 4 according to Scout's Scott Phillips. Article from Nike Skills Academy says "2012 big man Daniel Ochefu came off rave reviews at the Nike Hoop Jamboree and was confident in the Amar’e Academy, playing with mostly older players. He willingly fought in the post on offense and defense and showed a good feel around the basket offensively".
The 6'9", 225 pound center from Westtown, PA claimed that all of the 4 that are tracking him the hardest have offered: Georgetown, WVU, Temple and UVA.

WVU Scout site article from today:
"Ochefu clarified Thursday that West Virginia is “near the top” of his list and is not necessarily the school to beat. Head coach Bob Huggins will have to beat out a host of other teams to win the recruiting battle for Ochefu, including Georgetown, James Madison, Kentucky, Rutgers, Temple, Villanova and Virginia, among others."

What the hell are Georgetown, Kentucky, Villanova, and WVU? Since '07, all 3 Big East teams listed above made Final Four and Kentucky is a "decent" program last time I checked.

From Reggie Rankin @ ESPN:
Rising junior center Daniel Ochefu (Westtown, Pa./Westtown) has great size (6-10, 215 pounds) and off-the-charts upside. His ability to score, rebound and block shots has all the high majors drooling and he draws comparisons to Greg Oden. West Virginia, Kentucky, Georgetown, Villanova, Rutgers, Temple and James Madison are in the mix for Ochefu with the Mountaineers leading at this early stage according to Ochefu.

Sounds like Ochefu's handler is pushing him towards WVU due to his long-standing relationship with WVU assistant Billy Hahn. My guess is that he'll end up a Mountaineer, unfortunately.

FYI, the excerpt below is from ESPN's write up Bottom Line: Ochefu is a true post with great size and good skill. He can score in the post and face where he is very affective in the mid wing areas off the catch or with a couple straight line dribbles. He is an excellent passer under stress for a post and good decision maker. Ochefu is a good area rebounder on both ends as well. Ochefu has tremendous upside and could be an immediate impact player on the college level. That reads like a scouting report on a Hoya center!

He's also the 8th ranked player in the 2012 class and got the maximum ratings "Grade" in ESPN's 2012 class -- 98!

while you're doing recon send in a team to kidnap him and don't let him leave till he signs a LOI Unfortunately, I'm not on campus. My friend is and just called me to let me know. Apparently there were a couple other recruits with JTIII and Ochefu touring as well. All I got out of my friend, who isn't that knowledgeable, is that they were "very tall". But I'm all for the kidnapping...

Hope he brings them by the soccer game this afternoon. He's done it in the past, it's always good for recruits to see students supporting sports and more likely to result in a win then bringing them to a football game.
