Do we have an over inflated sense of the abilities of our returning team? No one who isnt a fan of GTown seems to think we have anything coming back. I look at our team without NN, DP, or RU and still see a Top 25 team that is well capable of winning the BE and making noise in the NCAA tourney. Am I just a crazed biased fan? I look at SU and see middle of the pack in the BE. I think with NN GTown will be loaded and very hard to beat. I think we should be ranked #2 right behind IU in the preseason rankings............. I don't think so; I believe its just a pretty simple case of seeing "losing Hollis, Clark and Sims from a 2nd round tourney team" and concluding that's not a top 25 team. We know the talent we have on this roster. Porter is a star, Whittington has star potential, Starks should be solid as a junior, Lubick has been starting on this team since he was a freshman, and we have intriguing options behind them. With Nerlens, this is a top 5 team, and with Nerlens + Pollard, this is a top 2 team imo.

Top 2 is over the top, WE are top 10 yes, 5-10 but more than that I'm reserving judgement.

We're not a top two team no matter what. We're just not. Well, except if we end up with both the best sophomore class in America, and one of the top 2 or 3 freshmen classes.

Let's wait until a commitment before we start with predicting our preseason rank.

I think they are all wildly underestimating. Our frontline - if we get Nerlens, Otto, Whit @ the 3, Hop, Nate, Tyler, Moses -- perhaps even Devonta Pollard @ the 3 as well is a very high level of talent, depth and all in the place in their careers where they improve. There's 3-5 NBA players in that crew in my mind. It's the guards that are sketchier, and it depends on how you feel about Markel, Whit @ the 2, Trawick and DSR. I'm personally up on these guys. I don't know why anyone would put Michael Carter Williams as inherently better than Jabril Trawick, for example. Does a Triche-MCW-CJ Fair-Christmas-Coleman lineup really scare you? They lost their best three players (by FAR) and senior PG. They had a lot of depth this year and a lot of luck and an athletic 7' defensive presence.

No but when people look at teams they look at what scorers you have coming back. They wouldn’t know how good these players are defensively and how well they played down the stretch. Otto averaged under 10ppg, but his last seven he shot 60% + and averaged like 16ppg 7rbds. Greg shot like 42% from 3 after BE play started and had some big games. Hopkins, Jabril all had moments and should be solid next year etc.. That being said #2 in the nation is a streeeeeetch… top 10 easy though..

We're not a top two team no matter what. We're just not. Show me a rotation better than this one outside of Bloomington next year. PG- Starks SG- Whittington SF- Pollard PF- Porter C- Noel Bench Lubick DSR Hopkins Trawick

Sorry but I have to ask how are we not Top 5 with NN? I can't name 3 schools that should be ranked above GTown. IU and Baylor are the only 2 if UK loses what is expected...........Davis, Lamb, Jones, Teague, and MKG...........

Cal's remarks seem like he is trying to make excuses for not players choosing UK this year.
