I'm '73 from a Maryland public high school, and it was part of the curriculum, no fee, with the driver simulators in a dedicated classroom and all the gory films showing what can happen in accidents, usually produced by some State Highway Patrol. A classic called "Signal 30" was one that may ring a bell with the oldtimers on the board. I think it was produced by the Ohio State Patrol but may be wrong.
